Correct. Might as well roll with Bocephus next season if you’re going to bring in Moss.

The fact that he scrambled to pass, like a Bryce Young or Kyler Murray, doesn’t make him any less kf a dual threat.

Yeah, well QB mobility is far from the reason we suck... especially in this "offense" Freeze seems to want to run.

Sure, but it would have helped. If you don’t have a truly dominant OL, having a mobile QB helps everything out.

His OC is going to UO and that's why most think that's where he ends up.

I’m a fan of mobility at the QB position but Freeze himself has said at or near the bottom of the list of things he wants out of a QB.

Why are we married to “RPO system”?

Bc it's good and almost impossible to defend when you have a qb that can run it

I remember GusShortBus deciding that a dual threat QB wasn’t important to his offense…

Gus and Freeze run polar opposite offenses…

And Hugh’s logic behind that stance is sound. His system needs a QB that can make quick decisions and distribute the ball over the entire field. Mobility shouldn’t be the top priority and generally shouldn’t sacrifice another quality for it. However, if we have the luxury of choosing between options we think can do that, go for the more mobile one every time

The more parameters you try to set, the smaller your pool of candidates becomes.

Sure, if I can get Mike Vick's legs underneath Tom Brady's torso that would be optimal! But your HC clearly has no interest in building his offense around a "running QB", so that would by default become a secondary parameter at best. You guys seem to forget that Thorne ran for 500+ yards last season, and the result was the OC getting fired and Freeze inserting himself as the play-caller.

Correct. A dual threat takes his offense to a different level.

Ashford had quality speed and elusiveness. We still sucked.

Our line is abysmal and our passing routes are heavy on the long developing side of things. What's most important is a QB who can make quick reads and throws, which was Thorne's biggest weakness. Brown could make quick throws, but he couldn't read the defense. If we have a QB who has quickness too, great, but this pining for the return of a Nick Marshall is not likely to pay off.

Good lord some of you have no concept of anything except for the extremes.

If your assumption is that not wanting a pocket passer only means someone like Ashford, we can just end this discussion right now

Thorne also threw for less than 1800 yds and 11 picks last season... He should hav been fired too...
