Some guys in the portal might come back. I’m pretty sure Simmons probably burned his bridge. Lew isn’t in the portal but in the draft and coming off an injury he may not like where he is on draft boards. So who knows but we are going to be close to 40-50 new players on the roster. It is what it is.

At least it’s getting close to time we can add some players and not just lose them. So getting some of these kids back out of the portal and then getting some talented players that can come in work hard and produce at an SEC level is what will set the tone for next season.

Interesting. When would his deadline be to make the final choice?

Fellas, we have had 5 losing seasons, spending a bunch of money on players....with a 5 and 7 record.

Like anybody in here needs to hear dumb unrelated context. Do you want to win or do you want to give platitudes that nobody gives a shite about.

Football is about talent. Not balancing a checkbook.

We wasnt begging Golesh to start Jackson Arnold. All we needed was a QB and a decent coach not trying to reinvent the wheel and our team would have been fine.

But no, you retards support lighting the world on fire.

You are apparently not very familiar with the coaching ranks. That's just not really how this works. These guys get to the top doing things their way. They aren't going to get their dream job and suddenly say "oh well I'll just take what Hugh, AU's biggest loser in modern history, was doing & replace the QB"

The roster was higher than a top 15 roster.

Would you call Greg Robinson, Dee Ford, Chris Davis, Tre Mason 3-9 caliber players?

No. They also weren't commanding high dollars of a limited budget.

(Chris Davis was also a bit overrated)

They would be if it was today. And most here would be happy letting them go because why throw money at players that only got us to 3-9. Aren't the high dollars worth it if it gets you to the National Championship game?

The team this year sucked because of QB and coaching. We had a good bit of talent on the roster. I hope we can keep a good bit of them, especially defensive players.

Limited budget is the problem. If we are going to have limited budget every year, we might as well quit. We will never compete for championships with college football set up like it is today. Go find the money. Sell that jersey space. Sell all that green space on the football field.

I don't think anyone is "supporting" the mass exodus. I think folks are being realistic about the current climate of cfb free-agency and not getting their knickers all twisted when absolutely nothing permanent has happened as of yet.

outside of Robinson, majority of the stars from those teams were not that highly ranked of players, but they were great workers and developed well, eventually.

Can we see who comes back, what new players we add, and see what spring looks like before we start calling for our coaches head? I am as sick of losing as anyone, but we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. If there are players worth ponying up to keep, we will. I am going to trust that if players aren't being kept, there is a very good reason why they weren't seen as a fit. Lazy, selfish, undisciplined, not a scheme fit, or just not as good as originally advertised. I would be pissed if a new coach were forced to keep coaches he doesn't want, we all seemed to feel the same way. Should he in turn be expected to keep players he doesn't want?

Golesh is a young guy, with a career ahead of him. I don't think what Auburn is as a program is lost on him. I don't think he has a misunderstanding of expectation, urgency, or what the state of the program is right now. I think he knows the situation, and we are looking to him to turn it around. That being said, do you really think he's dumb enough to run off every player that would help him turn this around? And if so, why? So his USF players can experience running out on the field at Auburn a few times before he gets canned? It's a marathon, not a sprint. Rome wasn't built in a day. Etc, etc, etc

No.

Really though, I'm not mad at Golesh. I think he is in a tough spot. Too early to be mad at him. Even myself, who loves to call for firing a coach, knows he needs a season or two to get going. No more than that though. End of year 2 we assess and proceed with firing recommendation if needed.

The budget should be fine Charlie. We got no players left.

Some were yes, some weren't. Scheme and fit can always help improve a lot of things on the field. Draft wise, those teams were not regarded as uber talented. Though, the 2012 team just quit, so they drastically underperformed too. 2013/2014 without a doubt overperformed.

Jang is correct. Same thing when TB took over for CPD, talent was there just needed a change in leadership.

We got a roster full of talent or other P4 teams wouldn’t be circling the wagons. We just need select positions cleaned up and a competent coach, which by all accounts we now have

These posts that constantly beat the drum of “who cares if the leave, the tm was 5-7 so obviously they suck” is ludicrous

Not in the modern era Jang. Its about NIL money, budget and money allocation No one has an unlimited budget.
