My feeling is different than most of you guys. I dont think it is as much money issue as it is the status of the program. I think they all get paid equal or near equal somewhere else that is not a 5 win program

But that is purely my feeling, not anything I have read or have info on.

i assume he’s gonna take less money to be the starter somewhere, unless some staff out there thinks his performance against Mercer is enough evidence he’s worth more than 2 mil

I wonder if other schools are telling him that he will be the starter, or at least, given an opportunity to compete for it. Whereas AG wants him to sit behind Brown, learn the offense, and be groomed to be a terror in 2027.

Here’s what I find fascinating about the Deuce situation. Whether he stays here, or goes to another school, he’s going to have to learn a brand new offense. He will only have the spring and summer to learn and perfect it.

Is he better off out there? Or, learning from the Coach and the QB who engineered a 3,000 yard passing and 1,000 yard rushing season?

Learning that he and Coleman share an agent makes this situation much more clear. They could have declared at any time. They chose to wait until it had the maximum effect on the program and fanbase.

Leverage? Or sour grapes like Malcolm?

Anyone remember when the portal was going to be a good thing for schools to fill holes in their roster with quality players who weren't getting enough playing time at their current school?? Its crazy how fast it transformed from helping backups get another chance into all out money grab for the best players to ask for as much or more than that other Elite player just because that's what he got paid. Letting Deuce walk and saving 2m could be the best move Golesh makes. If he was afraid he couldnt beat out a transfer new to they system next year then that's 2m can be put for next years QB because he was gonna win the job amyways

You do realize he was injured midway through the year right? Right?

Y'all act like this wasn't inevitable, a few dominoes fall after a coach leaves and then most follow, Iowa State who went 8-4, is down 44 players.

You're right we don't. And actually.....What he wants is irrelevant. He won't get what he WANTS till season three (like all coaches). Right now he has to make due with what he actually HAS. On one hand we're being told that the insiders don't know ish right? Then "insiders" start talking about how terribly behaved our guys are and (SOME) of you believe it? So we'd essentially have to trust them when the story makes the athletes sound like spoiled brats and ignore ALLLL of the stuff they got wrong during this entire process after the season ended huh? I'm not doing that. lol

It’s more than just those two things but that absolutely plays into it. As of now we only really know rough figures on two players and they are getting big raises and are still transferring. So, it is silly to assume everyone else that is transferring is because we are undercutting them.

Beyond program status, we are going to have a big culture shift and accountability change. Unfortunately there are going to be some that aren’t going be down for that too.

Smuphy, was the 2 million offer a base pay or was that the total he could earn with incentives? If it was with incentives, any idea what those might have been for a back up QB? A starter is obvious, but not sure what benchmarks would be set for a back up.

Who delivers their intent today?

Seems like the prodigal players have been planning ahead- delivering the dagger in a never-ending, spread- out affair to make sure the players can each have their spotlight while they twist their dagger into our organs.

Very valid, I felt Coleman would leave because our offense was so anemic and we suck at winning football games. Some are definitely looking for a program getting more exposure and having success. The money thing doesn’t hurt either.
