Welcome to college football with signees and portal we walk into the fall with over 50 new players on the team.
Will for sure be a different team than last year. I'm ready to see what they can do next fall.

Spot on Weagle. Ill add the Ole Miss guy and the Oregon State guy are tackles which is nice.
On the recruiting portal the LSU folks are very complimentary about the DL, they hated to see him go.

Dear god. He was a true freshman this season with upside to develop into a starter. This is your replacement for someone like DeAndre Carter on the roster. He is not expected to start.

J.Lee has put in a prediction for AU to land CB/WR Antavious "Scrap" Richardson from Notre Dame (55 confidence).
4-star ATH from last year's class who can really run. Georgia A-Division II state champion in both the 100 and 200-meter.

I was expecting upgrades.

I am underwhelmed by the lines too, but nobody asked my opinion, and since I'm a sales rep and not a coach, it's probably pretty worthless.
Unfortunately I don't have $30 million a year to contribute to my school's NIL like Mark Cuban does either.
As a result I will be optimistic until given a reason to not be anymore

Upgrades to what? The multiple transfer OL that they signed 1-2 weeks ago who are all projected to start?
It is pretty obvious that Ramil (OT), Simmons (OT), and Best (C) were brought in as expected starters. That leaves two spots on the OL, with the Maryland OG still in play on top of the other USF OG they signed, and the young guys who were already on the roster (Kail Ellis, Jacobe' Ward, etc.) who are capable of competing for a starting role.
Are some of you expecting that they signed guys like Ramil and Simmons to sit on the bench? I'm confused by what the confusion is. The USF center that they signed is one of the highest rated OC's/IOL in the portal and is very experienced.

The most recent example of us getting Chaplin and him being a total bust should be a pretty clear indicator that there is no sure thing, even if you get the proclaimed best lineman from the portal.
No point in hand wringing until the chips fall where they may leading up to the start of the season.

I can’t remember names yet but
OT -Michigan State guy
OT - James Madison guy/Oregon st guy
OG - Ellis
OG - Buster/Skinner
C - Best
They say Oregon state guy is a tackle but they also talk about him being versatile so I don’t know if they’re looking for him to fill in the guard spot.
Maryland guy would fill in one of the guard spots.
Smuphy said Buster is really good
No guys that jump off the page but I think it’s a solid group not a great group.

Isn’t that bear guy in there somewhere? Or has he now been dropped to depth?

This is basically my understanding as well.
Thanks fellas.

Personally, I feel we recovered well on our OL loses. We are still struggling on edge rushers and until we lock a few studs down, we will struggle on D.

The freshman? Was he expected to start?

Durkin needs to recruit enough DL to keep the OL off Xavier Atkins. If the DL can hold their own and allow Xavier to move around we should be able to generate a pass rush

quote:I will add making a decent bowl game this year would have seemed plausible with this staff .. if for no other reason than our trying to fit the wrong parts into a preconceived system. Hugh had a vision but it wasn’t a properly executed functional plan. It was a notion of things work in a perfect world.
This is basically my understanding as well.
My plan. Winning season. Good bowl with extra practices. And adding more portal pieces once showing a good upward trend. Throw in a few more favorable breaks with the zebra’s. And hope we move up as others move down.
And yes, this is not recruiting thread material.

I would like stability. 8-10 wins would be nice. We are doing harm to our younger fans. You would almost have to be a senior in HS to remember a decent AU team. Feels like when the Braves decided to pull out of the TBS contract and lost a generation of fans.
