This has been BYU's model for 100 years.

Maybe so and that would explain how they stay relevant. The Portal and covid super seniors stuff has really pronounced the effectiveness of this model.

I just know with our luck, if we paid him to stay he was going to suck. Now he’s going to be good…

Guys that go to BYU literally be 21-22 year old redshirt freshmen. Most of them are 25-26 as seniors with wives and kids.

good we don't have to talk about him anymore. Even better we can up the price for OL as DL so we can win games

The money value will eventually plateu, but let a few of these 2nd or 3rd year QBs see that the portal QBs are getting paid more or going to more competitive teams then they almost all will start entering

That's why I think schools need to be very deliberate on who they sign and transparent on how they pay. No, we won't throw bags of money at you to sit and learn, only to have you leave in year two. Well pay you nicely but next year we'll pay nicer with a ton of incentive money available. Then it's up to the player. Brown isn't getting huge base QB money but he could end up making the most.

This^

It’s these Prima Donnas that are killing blue bloods too.

Glad we have purged them all

Any team can buy players now but they can’t buy mindset

Head coaches that can separate the wheat from the tares before the NIL collectives spend the money on non productive players / assets will dominate this new landscape

It's kind of lost in the Pavia Mania, but Vandy has had more grad transfers and Sr transfers than almost anyone else in the SEC the last two years. This year, 7 of their starting 11 on O and 14 of their O & D two-deep were grad students.

Deuce Knight money better spend on the O-line. I'm glad we can move past this. It's not that I don't think Knight is talented or has potential to be great. But Brown was clearly the best option for this upcoming year. And once you are past that decision, then it doesn't make sense to overpay for Knight as a backup. Talk of a 2 year deal is just speculation, and would we even want to do that (he's still unproven after all)? Would Deuce? Better to just play our best option out this year and get a portal QB next year.

These coaches always think they can cheap out on o and dline and spot diamonds in the rough so we never spend on the line.

Lee says we are not prioritizing King Large and Kelby Collins. They gone.
