There has to be a balance. We are in on some big time 27 recruits. We need to put together a competitive roster, while spending wisely and establishing a plan moving forward. I think this staff is extremely sharp, unlike years past

Also, I think we will see a pattern of Golesh taking some chances on some guys that might splash and they’ll be loyal after given the opportunity to do it at this level. Retention through the years, is key in the portal era

It'll have to be litigated before the next season starts for Chamblis to be able to play next season. The portal closes on the 16th or 17th but players don't have to be committed to any school before then, that's just the amount of time they have to actually enter the portal and Deuce is already in the portal, so could technically wait it out and find out. if he does that though, he could find himself having to step down to a lower level somewhere and take a huge paycut.

It's being reported that Raiola may end up at Oregon even if their QB stays. Raiola would sit til next year and be the supposed guaranteed starter. Deuce would be well served to do the same here but it seems he's letting is snake agent make a terrible decision for him.

I kind of thought that Lame Kitten might go after him since he wanted him to come to Ole Miss pretty bad out of HS, and Kitten has whiffed on a couple big dog QB's already at LSU, but so far it doesn't seem he's much interested as i've seen that he lined up a visit from Husan Longstreet from USC already.

The likelihood of this happening, barring injury, is 0%

I think we should all accept that Deuce is gone, this year anyways. I could see a scenario where we do better than most think and he might be interested next year, but other than that, time to move on imo

That’s right. My bad. I had forgotten that fact. Thanks for reminding me.

So, it’s not really Ole Miss that’s on the clock, it’s Deuce. Does he go and risk sitting behind Chambliss next year? Or, like you said, go somewhere smaller and take a pay cut? To me, he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would do that.

Totally agree with you. The smart play for him is to stay here, learn from BB and AG, and become a beast next year.

That seems like such a lazy excuse, acting like his agent is in charge of everything. It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around that being the case. If he wanted to play for Golesh and Auburn, then he would be. Plain and simple. The agent theory seems like copium

Maybe, maybe not. At the end of the day, this is an 18-19 year old guy, who really doesn’t have a lot of real world experience, especially with negotiations involving numbers this large and playing time.

Think back to when you were that age.

These agents only get paid off of guaranteed money, so it’s to their advantage to get as high of an offer as they can. These young athletes can be manipulated into making decisions that are not in their own best interests, but that of the agent.

Yes, the agent works for the player, but I bet most don’t see it that way.

Plus, maybe his friends and family are in his ear, too. This is life changing money, if you’re smart with it.

I can see the portal only getting worse without restriction. The money value will eventually plateu, but let a few of these 2nd or 3rd year QBs see that the portal QBs are getting paid more or going to more competitive teams then they almost all will start entering. As popular as it has been this year, most QBs starting for good teams are staying. I bet within the next 2 years, even the Mendozas all over the country will enter for a pay rasie from their school. Beck has already set the example, only difference is he went to another team not just for a raise from his current team

It’s going to be nice to have a room of competent, explosive backs, that can rotate and no drop off. I think Washington is going to be a beast in this offense.

Brown and Washington in the same backfield, in this offense, makes the hair on my arms stand up

The Db is Shamar Arnoux from FSU. Durkin really liked him out of HS.

He fits the length, measurable profile they’re looking for in a CB

I had a thought, if Sumrall was so great, how come he's only gotten a kicker and punter to follow him from Tulane? Wouldn't you think he would have pull with those guys. I want to think we got the better off the two, but what does anyone know?

ETA: At least Hartline got an edge and WR to follow

It is at least worth noting as much as we hated Harsin and made a point that none of Boise players followed him, USF players seem to really like him. That’s a plus at least.

Whether you believe it or not is another thing

But he said from the get go he wasn’t going to poach from the school he’s leaving. Wants to be able to come back to Tulane and not have everyone hate him or something

In this era, that doesn’t even make any sense to me. He’d be actually doing the kids a disservice, if he thought they could succeed at this level and not provide an opportunity to, for the benefit of everyone involved. What’s the difference between them leaving to go somewhere else and/or leaving to play for him? It makes zero difference
