Yeah, but his composite 247 ranking was 448, 89 rating. That's right on the border of high 3/4 star. That's more what I'm referring to, it's not like he was some sort of top 200 4 star.

Pretty much any coach does these days with NIL.

There is no identification

Sure thing slick, so I'm sure there are no transfers coming up from G5 type schools starting for P4 schools that are in the playoffs right?

And I'm sure there are no players projected to get drafted in the top 4 rounds from G5 schools either right? Since there is no identification and all.

And even if that was true, which it isn't, so your take is completely idiotic, it wouldn't even matter.

If you think we are outspending the top spending schools or out recruiting Bama and Georgia to win you are quite frankly not in the real world. We spend enough on football to be competitive and have top 10ish classes on average, but it is going to take some good development and coaching for us to in any way compete with major state schools and big spenders consistently.

Ole Miss has completed just fine for the SEC and the playoffs with mostly high 3 star type talent the last three years. They didn't have enough talent to win it, but they were right there the last three years. You definitely need a certain amount of 4-5 star talent to get over the hump, which they didn't have.

Once players excel or fall in P4 the HS recruiting ranking barely matters- if it even does at all. We might see some flyers on former 5*s that bounced around because of usually behavior problems but even then it's apparent they're no longer the 5 star caliber player anymore.

Exactly. You may get a few good 4 or 5 star transfers under special circumstances with coaching changes or if you really overspend for them. But if you are getting good players from the portal they are going to be typically be guys that were overlooked and coached up or that were late bloomers like a Dee Ford or Demarcus Ware type.

it's takes both. You need recruiting AND development. If you sign a class of 3* players in an elite conference like the SEC you'll (more times than not) fail. Texas A&M has as many 5* as anyone, but they scored 3 points today lol You cannot 3 star your way to a title and you can't just 5* star your way to a championship (without coaching). We all get this right?

A*********ites post:

"*Disclaimer**: I only know people who know people. Sometimes my info is days old. Don’t take what I say as gospel.

I can say from what I’ve been told that I’m near 100% certain that Byrum Brown will either be in the NFL or be the starting quarterback for Auburn come the start of the 2026 season. Brown has back channeled a deal to come here and it’s in place dependent upon what his draft projection looks like and any last minute offers from other schools. I don’t know the exact number but it’s believed that it’s not one that is breaking the bank.

So what does that mean for Deuce? It appears as though Golesh is willing to pay the NIL for Duece to sit and learn behind Brown for a year. Deuce may/will probably get higher number offers BUT the staff are showing him that they see him as a long term option and want to keep him here, and with a year of development in this system and watching Byrum Brown run it he can achieve huge things. They think Deuce sees this and is very accepting of this because he sees the investment that they are putting in him. It doesn’t mean he is staying here by any means but he is invested in what they are presenting to him and likes what he sees.

As far as Cam goes, he is looking at 2 things (that have already been reported by the writers here): NIL and who’s at QB. Cam loves Auburn. He has already developed a really good relationship with Golesh and Kodi. He has the offer Auburn has given him and he likes it, but he wants to know who is throwing him the ball. He has seen Byrum Brown’s tape and seen the numbers. He is excited for the potential opportunity to play with Brown. I’m not saying it’s all hinging on Brown coming, because he’s got reasons to stay and reasons to leave even if Brown does come. But I’m feeling good about this personally.

I don’t have anything else right now"

Thanks Michael.

Here is what ai says about the draft:

quote:

Byrum Brown is projected as a mid-to-late round pick or Priority Undrafted Free Agent (UDFA) for the 2026 NFL Draft, seen as a high-upside, athletic dual-threat quarterback with impressive rushing ability, but inconsistent passing mechanics that need significant refinement for the NFL, potentially making him a Day 3 prospect or developmental player for a practice squad.

Day 3 money is around a million bucks, or a little more. Thats if he made it day 3. I think the mechanics is refering to that "slinging motion" on his windup.

This is the perfect example of the sum being greater than the parts. Brown gets to prove his skills in the SEC for NFL scouts. Deuce gets to learn the system under one who has mastered it WHILE getting paid big bucks. Golesh proves his "system" works at his new home.

Stop it, stop it, Im getting chills just thinking about it.

As a sidenote, at six foot three, 231 lbs, the fellow sure likes to lower his head rather than sliding.

Some guys just have difficulty with that concept.

Jaxon Dart is still doing it in the NFL and has been concussed a ridiculous number of times because of it.

I hope its a sign Brown is coming. Golesh needs to show that his offense is going to work in the SEC, especially after the Freeze deception. Brown gives us the best chance to win next year and will also be better for Deuce as well. Not only will he get to learn the system without pressure for a season. He will learn it from pretty much the best mentor for the Golesh offense. Anyone thinking there will be a QB competition should take off the Auburn glasses. Brown will be the starter and add an additional 2 wins at least the second he arrives on campus. I think Deuce will buy into this, and giving him potential to be more successful in his time. I think this not only makes Auburn better next year, but will make us better the following 2 years as well

Kayin Lee to the portal.

Yeah this offseason is off to a terrible start. Completely rebuilding the defense now.

Wonder how much the prior drug arrests for Jay Crawford and Kayin Lee played into this. They were completely swept under the rug under Brother Hugh

If an arrest that’s a year old and was negligible played into a decision today that’s wild imo.

Feel like what I'm seeing with the basketball team is what's happening to the football team.. Don't pay for good players and you will get the results that come with it.

It’s interesting to me why fans are clamoring to players who contributed highly to several unsuccessful seasons
