LINK LB Michael Harris leaving the program. Man, I thought he played well when he had his opportunities. I have to think he would see more playing time next year just to give OP and KJ some breathers.
I was really excited about him when he joined on a couple years ago. I thought he could for sure turn into a great ILB for us. How bad does this hurt our depth at the position?

He had 5 tackles in 2 years. I guess he decided he wasn’t going to break into the 2 deep.

Didn’t even know his name so I guess I’m not surprised that he is transferring

He redshirted in '18 and played in 11 of 12 games this year on ST and mop up duty on defense. His stats aren't exacty great but he made some key plays when he got his chances. Idk, maybe I'm just biased because I really though he was going to contribute once he got to be an upperclassman.

Crowded position that’s getting more crowded with the incoming LB class and TWill gives no fricks about seniority. Best player plays.
Good programs lose these kinds of guys that are buried and while it can suck it’s also a necessary part of the equation.
Speaking of — WR Marcquis McClain is entering the portal. Announced just a while ago. Do you want to edit the title to make this a departures thread? Would be nice to contain all of this in one place

Can't say I blame him, I always thought he had good potential but there's just not enough ball to go around and too many younger guys with even higher potential
Harris is more surprising. I figured he'd be a high impact player and eventually a starter as an upperclassmen

Hate to see Marquis McClain leave as I always thought he could be a decent target with his size. Things just never clicked I guess. Hope he lands somewhere else and becomes productive for them

So we gain two scholarships for this year or next regarding recruiting?

3 with Gatewood if I’m not mistaken.

It’s just a result of depth for the most part. Sometimes it’s mad players but most of the time it’s due to depth

T-Will has changed the level for Auburn linebackers. Not too long ago Kris Frost was the best we had to put on the field. Now solid players are transferring because of stacked talent.

I thought the LB play was stellar.
We lost Tre Williams and Deshaun Davis, but in some ways I thought the new crew was more dynamic.
Pappoe, McClain, Britt and Wooten all brought the lumber.

Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time. Dude used to frustrate me to no end.

Kira Frost was an upgrade from Jake Holland

I am starting to think McClain could be the best of the group. Dude really brings the pain and has a great head on his shoulders

Derrick Brown analysis
LINK
quote:
DERRICK BROWN, DT, AUBURN
You can pop on Derrick Brown’s tape and be impressed by a lot of things, but nothing stood out more than the effort he brings to every single rep. Sure, his size, power and explosiveness are easy to identify, but his unrelenting motor to beat blocks and chase in pursuit is something you cannot always find in an interior defensive lineman. Simply put, Brown is a wrecking ball that disrupts for four quarters in every game without exception.
After averaging 10.5 tackles for loss and four sacks per year the last three seasons, his production won’t blow you away. Brown’s barrel chest and modest arm length lead to reps frequently being played close to the vest, which impacted his ability to disengage from blocks.
The 2019 class was loaded with talented defensive tackles including Quinnen Williams, Ed Oliver, Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence. Brown would have been my No. 2 defensive tackle last year but now he is the clear-cut top guy in 2020.

They both were awful. Frost was just faster.
