Makes sense. I mentioned him in the other thread about being RB Coach if Caddy leaves. He is a great recruiter, and it frees up Freeze to game plan. There was a good article about Kiffin naming Nix as Honorary Head Coach during one of their scrimmages.

I don’t mind it at all. Seemed very inept doing his job.

I didn’t mind Freeze using the Bowl game time to detail down on recruiting. He should be able to trust the OC in the 12th game of the season..

Multiple times this year Freeze mentioned he felt the game plan was lacking while he was on the recruiting trail. Is Monty all to blame, I wouldn't say so, but you need to have some level of trust with what you want to be put out on the field and the level of work needed.

Monty is a great offensive coach on paper. Just wasn't a good fit

Not saying Nix isn’t a good coach but that probably had more to do with that lawsuit being filed, for appearances and narrative.

So ultimately, why didn't this work out? His resume is pretty impressive.

Trying to mesh offensive philosophies usually doesn’t work out, and it was even harder because we didn’t have the pieces to run an effective RPO offense. I don’t think either Freeze or Monty was prepared for how bad things were when they got to Auburn

There are a lot of correlations to Potatoe's first season, 6-7, bowl loss, OC fired at the end, HC not happy with the gameplan--war rapport brought attention to that. Other than recruiting.

That’s kind of a major deal.

Our OCs would look a whole lot better with a decent offensive line. Hard to do much when you’re constantly losing in the trenches.

I think he could have gotten better with more time to adjust to everything, but not mad about making a move here. With the WRs we have committed that's going to look good to any OC candidates.

Pretty misleading when Gus called plays for 3 of those years.

Good indication that Freeze will be calling the plays next year
