Bass fishing is fair. Due to the recent rains, the lake for the most part is heavily stained to muddy, except on the extreme southern portion where some clear water can be found around the dam. The fishing has been really tough and unpredictable for the past few weeks. Many are using jigging spoon on those deep schools of wintertime bass. Working shallow ledges with medium running crank baits and Carolina rigs should really pick up as the fish move from there deep water holes to position themselves for the upcoming spawn. There will also be the shallow fish that will relate to the hydrilla, and these fish can be caught on spinnerbaits, Rat L Traps, and Texas rigged worms. Whatever fits your style of fishing, expect the action to really heat up for the next couple of weeks, especially if we can get several days of warmer weather between passing cold fronts.

Haven't been there in a while but docks and points with spinnerbaits and plastics seem to be the deal right now. Good luck

I am pulling out right now headed to Birmingham. Bassmaster Classic expo show.

If any of you attend, look my booth up and stop by to say hello. I will be the extremely good looking fat guy in the SpotSticker booth.

I plan on fighting you at the nearest Sonic.

Trying to decide if I'm gonna go down there or not. My bass club has a bunch of guys down there volunteering. Probably be worth it just to pick up some gear. You have any giveaways or some deals? Perhaps on some 1/8 oz buzzbaits or spinnerbaits?

Not Lanier, but it's going to be tough. They reopened the flood gates at Oliver and the water has come up almost 3' in last day or so. We have been focusing on brush piles in 10-15' range and have found a few off some of the shallower river and creek ledges and got bit on spoons and XD6 crankbait (red craw & citrus shad). With water high, running and gunning docks with a jig, spinnerbait, chatterbait is not a bad plan as well as punching grass in Cowikee and throwing a chatterbait. We've also caught a few throwing a square bill in shallow flats depending on water clarity. It's probably going to be red enough to walk across this weekend.

Be careful and wear your life jacket. There's enough widowmakers floating down the river to fill the woodyard at the pulpmill. Good luck

ETA: If this pump is running it will be the clearest water on the lake. Normally not run on the weekend, but worth a look see.

I imagine the lake is rough today. Kinda surprised any tournament wasn’t cancelled.

Well? How did it go?

Classic show was good. Great meeting you Aubie96. I think. We sold a lot of baits there and even picked up a few new stores which we thought was the icing on the cake till Sunday morning Mark Zona called my company name out of no where on the broadcast. One of the top 10 guys was using one of my jigs and had the "Catch of the day" on Saturday.

We were busy in the booth so did not get to see any of the coverage. My phone just blew up on the drive in Sunday morning from Pelham to Birmingham.

Great weekend
