Dang. I'm sure it will make a killing but what a waste of prime position for the city

Yep, was always a wonderful bar spot. Bank Vault was fantastic, as was Bodega before it. The pizza place ruined the back patio.

Wow that just unlocked a 25 year old memory! I know I was in there a bit, but can't for the life of me remember what it looked like.

Highlands was poppin when I was there. Spent some time at Tigris as well as the blue room and of course supper club.

Buffalo Connection used to have 50 cent beer night that was lit. Also loved the old roosters. Would go every Friday after class and eat some shitty food and play pool.

Pretty sure I just dated myself.

Can’t figure out why that game didn’t catch on. I’ve looked for it at other bars, even googled it a time or two. What a great drinking game that was. So much fun.
Its also known as Sjoelen or Jakkolo in you go to the Netherlands or Germany. I lived 200 yards from Amsterdam Cafe for two years before they pulled the Shulbok tables out of there. $1 Killian's pints before 7pm everyday IIRC. I had to walk past there everyday from classes so that did me absolutely no good.

I liked playing Shulbok so much from Amsterdam that I found a guy in Colorado that hand-makes the tables. As luck would have it, he was visiting his daughter out in California so he hand-delivered it to my doorstep when he drove through here. I still have the table.

Edit: There's a fairly large Irish bar in a small shopping center close to me out here that has something similar, but the table is longer and the pucks are really heavy. They also use white sand on the playing surface to allow the puck to move freely. Similar but not exactly the same. I should pay them a visit, they have really good lamb ribs as an appetizer.

Miss that place. They didn't have this deal when I was there, but I think it was wednesday was all you can eat wings for like $9. It was a fantastic deal and their wings were solid up until their last year or so when things started going down hill.

Anyone else find themselves at the Touchdown’s crawfish festivals in ‘98 and ‘99?

Finks was our default bar.
Bodega for frozen drinks. They had one with everclear.

Boardwalk Grill out past the interstate had grilled wings and to this day I think they were the best I ever had.

What was the fancy restaurant on Opelika Rd. beyond Harry’s? On the right

When Amsterdam re-organized to be just a restaurant a friend of mine bought the shulbok table from them. They didn't even announce it was for sale, he basically talked them into it.

Probably a TMI, but that place gave me the squirts something fierce. Never made it out the place without a visit to that shitter.

I worked right next door a Chuck's for a couple of years!

I've wanted shuffleboard table ever since then! But damn, they are expensive and take up a lot of room.

Balcony Bar during it's brief, ill-fated run had Shulbok for a while.

Mine measures 22" x 80" (playing surface is 17" x 75" and stands 32" off the ground. Its cumbersome because of the length, but I can move it around by myself. Its been at least ten years since I purchased it but I paid less than $500 IIRC.

I'm looking for the gent in Colorado who made mine. He might of stopped building them because he was a retiree in 2008-ish. However, I stumbled across this page. He seems to be in Auburn. $200 plus shipping. If you look at the pictures, the two tables on his site are a bit less bulky and ornate than mine, and mine has legs. Those are the only differences. You could probably get this person to make it how you'd like it for around $200.

My table is 24" x 144", playing surface is 16" x 11'3". I'm not moving it by myself anywhere. I bought it in 2011ish for $600-700. No one plays it.

Haha it's quite possible we crossed paths there. The drunkest I think I've ever been in public was in that place one night in '02. I'm convinced to this day that I was drugged on accident by someone.

I'm in your boat. 1999-2001 I was at Bodegas. A LOT. Loved that place.
Of course, we'd end up at Supper Club around 1 or 2am.
