What about Ny Carr, JJ Harrell, Chance Robinson.

Or the talk of Ryan Williams reclassifying for this class?

I know some of these guys are committed but its early, any traction on any of these guys?

Shouldn’t have left off Chance Robinson, although I think we’re running behind there. But like we’ve mentioned there’s quite a long ways to go.

I’m guessing they’re still recruiting Carr and Harrell and hope they’ll visit, just haven’t seen anything lately. And I’m not sure about Williams.

Thanks Jonesy.

J Lee spoke about Ryan Williams and apparently he is taking a hard look at us now. Last regime invited him to a game and Harsin never even acknowledged him on the sidelines, nice way to treat your invited guest. He said they must not care and bama certainly did so he committed there, but it is apparently a whole new appreciation with Freeze and the coach has made that abundantly clear to Ryan and his father who was a darn good player for us.

Harsin used to sit in his office all day when recruits were on campus. They only met him when they would visit his office before the player left. They all said it was extremely awkward.

Also, he was working out one day and finished his entire set before acknowledging a recruit waiting to speak to him.

Tried telling everyone how shitty Haskins was at recruiting before he called a down of football at AU. He truly was the worst possible coach at AU possibly ever.

From personal experience, yes. The worst guy possible to lead our program. Did absolutely nothing but sit in the high castle and yell down at people to do things his way, despite everyone around him - sans his guys - knowing better. Tried to lead off fear with nothing to back it up but working out in front of people and screaming at people.

Got in to yelling matches with proven trainers, recruiting staff, analysts, position coaches, and coordinators amongst others. We see how that worked out for him.

That’s all I have to contribute to this thread. Carry on.

Harsin was a disaster but in fairness he did have to take over for the trainwreck Gus Malzahn left him.

Those were Gus’ players the two seasons Harsin coached here. He didn’t have any talent to work with.

Has nothing to go with his complete apathy/disregard of recruiting.

Gus looked like a couple babes feeling each other up in a chocolate fountain as compared to Harsin’s tenure. Harsin doubled down on the suck in every season while running off what talent was left over in Gus’s era.

Why are your takes always the worst in multiple sports?

And he ran off Half of the ones Gus recruited leaving Hugh and Co with a steaming pile to work with.

The talent Harsin inherited is probably last on the list of reasons that he failed

Yeah, nothing quite as sexy a Gus going 0-12 in Tuscaloosa, Athens, and Baton Rouge and his daunting 2-5 record in bowl games. Those Birmingham bowl and music city bowl trophies were quite the accomplishments over his 8 years in Auburn.

Harsin at least got us a win in Baton Rouge (with Gus’ shitty players) for the first time since the 90s.

Auburn offered UR safety Joshua Lair in Texas who is seeing their recruiting blow up lately with offers from LSU, Texas, A&M, and a lot of others.

Planning to visit either this spring or early summer. He had this to say about Auburn:

quote:

“They produce some very good DB’s that go to the NFL,” Lair said.

Which is just nice for kids outside of the footprint to know and be talking about with reporters

I used to think he just didn’t care about recruiting and figured it would magically work itself out. But with all the stories that have come out, it’s pretty apparent he was actively trying to be that bad at recruiting. It takes effort to be that big of a dick

You dumb frick Gus brought us to two SEC championship games and recruited decent. Yeah he sucked on the road but Harsin sucked at home and on the road.

Harsin had only losing seasons and not only sucked at recruiting, he literally tried running off any talent he had.

Weird thing to be fighting about. For the record, Harsin was worse than Gus. Also for the record, Freeze is the best of the Arkansas State coaches.

I said this earlier in the year, but it should be a requirement at Auburn for the head coach to be a sociopathic recruiter. I empathize with any coach who thinks modern recruiting is ridiculous and kids shouldn't be slobbered over, but I don't want that coach at Auburn.
