Like I tell everybody, these next 2-3 years, Auburn will be smacking Bama because we are going to be able to get the recruits here.”

Yes recruiting has never matter lol.

Recruiting is the biggest thing in college sports. Always has been.

Coaching looks better with better players. It’s a process either you are willing to be a part of it or sit around and bitch every play call every play every game… 6-6 is about on par for our roster. I predicted 7-5. Next season depending on what portal guys we get maybe we can get to 8 wins. The season after we should start being able to hang and roster look similar to the top 4 I. The conference. But it will be a process

Also interesting that the recruit section was apparently rowdy. They’re usually stoic the entire game.

You can't lose opportunities like this and we've down it twice in a row vs them. One day maybe but nobody is interested in any moral victory trust the process right now. We didn't need to wait three or four years. We had them beaten tonight and we let them off the hook

Recruiting is obviously important. It a huge part of it. But its not some automatic fix all. We have recruited as good if not better in the past 10 years than we are now.

And lets not forget Jimbo Fisher. If I am not mistaken, didnt he sign one of the highest ranked recruiting class in history last year?

There is more to winning that getting good players

I agree....Fundamentals, development, and play calling. Essentially the basics of coaching. All of the top tier teams do those things well

You're right. There has to be on field results because even a #1 recruiting class won't turn around LOS play which is the hardest part imo. You can get some stellar WR and CB play from freshman but the rest takes time.

I don’t want to be too cynical but this this is the recruiting thread. If we’re to talk about good recruiting anywhere, it’s here

Doing so doesn’t mean we can’t also coach well. But this ain’t the coaching thread either

Forgive us fools for keeping track of the recruits, in the recruiting thread, while all you enlightened posters lay on the coaching critique

This was a team of misfits cobbled together at the last moment. I know we had some frustrating losses but you can’t deny the potential. Losing is never a good feeling but the fight we showed will help us. And this kid hit the nail on the head. Go to Bama or Ga and ho hum win another natty or make your own legacy.

Any major head coach will say the same thing. Having the players is absolutely 90% of it. Just because Jimbo sucks doesn’t make that any less true. He has always sucked, but even he won a natty with good players. So there ya go.

Man some of these quotes sound extremely promising but we shall see. In the era of NIL, most kids are looking for a bag and a place to put them in the league. Auburn can offer both.

The kids are on a visit high so take things with a grain of salt right now and let them sleep it off, however I can’t recall quotes being this one sided from uncommitted (or committed elsewhere) recruits.

Which is my favorite point about recruiting well: better fricking have the right good recruits, and they better be a QB

In terms of Jimbo, that was the story of his time at FSU and A&M

Stadium was an absolute circus, especially the second half. We made a big impression for sure. Just have to close the deal.
