And his grandfather is loaded so they could afford the tuition. He’s committed to Arkansas state currently

I don’t know that I doubted the Simmons commitment when it happened but I wondered if we needed to take him yet

Sure glad we did. He’s a hell of an athlete

He's not a big guy, but looks strong, very fast and good hands.

Randy, we still got the two five stars. This class will be a lot better than any of Harsin's
Quickly checked earlier, and I'm pretty sure that the potato gang never recruited a top 100 player.

Closer? Yes. Is it perfect? No

Is it a success so far? Yes. Are we finished or where we need to ultimately be? No

Welcome to objectivity. If this class closes out with what we are expecting, it’s absurd to say it isn’t a success. Just looking at rivals rankings, there is 1 team above us with a higher average star ranking. On3 composite there are 6. A class can still be a success and not be perfect.

Wait, I was wrong, he's visiting bammer, us, then bammer.

Still don't have the warm and fuzzies about this one though

I guess the question becomes what are we expecting? There are very few uncommitted prospects left who wouldn't be obvious backup plans and even fewer considering auburn. If we fill the class out with 7 or 8 of those the average ranking we are hanging our hat on is going to drop pretty significantly. My biggest concern is where we missed which are both lines of scrimmage. It's basically a Gus without Rodney garner class

The dline class isn't bad at all and I don't thinkw e are finished.

Oline isn't the best but they should add a few more and can hit the portal again. Last years o-line class was pretty damn good all things considered.

Didn’t play in the second half. Score was way too lopsided. Ended 60-0. Same classification same area

We have a couple more OL guys that we are looking to get. Assuming that happens, OL class will be okay, but not great. Easy to say OL and DL have been disappointing so far. Won’t argue that.

Someone did some analysis a while back and even if we closed out the class with all 3*’s, I think the finishing projections would have been like a top 8-10 class I think? Either way, the class as a whole, when you are looking at where we were and where we are trying to get to, I don’t see how anyone could say it hasn’t been a success. Ultimately though, the transfer portion of this class will be the ultimate determination of its success. This was going to be another bing transfer class regardless.

There are still some surprises out there that some have hinted at as possibilities, so who knows. Is the class where we all want it to be long term? Definitely not. We want to have the best class in the SEC. However, we’ve gone from dumpster fire recruiting to have an averaged top 5ish per recruit ranking on average across the sites as things stand right now. If you don’t see that as a success so far, don’t know what to tell you.

He’s also expected to visit for the IB. Not shocking and it’s a game both teams are in, but our staff is the one that gets time with him.

There are several schools that have come to play in the NIL era, and we are clearly one of those schools. Our staff isn't shy about going after top talent, they are confident they can flip any target they really want, and they aren't easily discouraged. I'm not sure what more we could ask for at this point, other than a stupid amount of NIL money allowing us to overpay for an elite class. The relationship side of recruiting seems on point, as does our staff's prioritization of needs.

What we have yet to see is how good is our staff's talent evaluation. That's how programs will set themselves apart going forward. The obvious superstars are going to be split up pretty evenly, so its the project recruits that will make a team stand out.

That's a quality post. We know there are guys ranked as mid 3 stars like some of our line commits that end up being really good players. We just have to hope we are getting some of those guys.

That was me and Jones and that was before two decommitments we’ve had. Don’t know what it looks like now.

You answered in your next paragraph.

People are wanting a class that competes with anybody’s in the SEC. You can debate the merits of that expectation but it’s what they’re looking for.

Someone posted a stat where, looking at Ga OL, you had to go down the list 11 players before you hit the highest ranked Auburn OL. And this cycle so far we have committed one, and they have signed 3 four star OT and 2 three star OT, and the top OT in Alabama committed for 25.

Thats some strong arse medicine there.

Im very happy with how far we have come in recruiting but the aforementioned is a very high bar for the line, and we are woefully behind.

If everything I’ve heard about the 25 class comes to fruition we will be fine.
