Malzahn looks to be making the same mistakes Chizik did. All recruiters, no coaching ability.
Somebody tell Malzahn you have to be able to stop the run to win in this league.
Step back off the edge.

Yep, he's amusing with his consistent shtick. It's good to know that a DE coach is responsible for a teams total run defense by himself though.

I find it more concerning that we are now prebitching about a guy who isn't even on staff yet......

Who are we even bitching about? Rocker as a DL coach?
He may not be as great as auburn fans want to believe but the dude can coach defensive linemen

So now we're throwing out stats from where the guy worked a decade ago? Sweet. Monte Kiffin's defenses were pretty good at Tampa Bay, too.
Granted, Hobby hasn't been hired yet, so some of this may be wasted breath. But what about a resume that includes your unit being ranked in the bottom half of the NCAA the last couple of years is appealing to Malzahn or Johnson? I don't understand it at all.
I understand you have to have a great recruiter or two on your staff, but fundamental coaching is more important. And this team is in dire need of it after what we've seen the last 4 years. Three straight years of top 10 recruiting classes, and we steadily got worse each year Chiz was here.
So yeah, I'll remain skeptical until we bring some coaches in here that can actually teach these players fundamentals and sound defensive principles. I liked the Ellis Johnson hire, but I'm not crazy about the other defensive coaches we've brought in/rumored to bring in.

We've hired one defensive position coach. Nobody has a clue who the others will be. Chill out.
Ellis Johnson is a great DC and a great coach. He will set the tempo on how are players are coached, and he will get them playing fundamental football.

UT fans posting that Hubbs (ut version of PM) has Dameyune Craig on the shortlist for the WR coach position. Damnit, I want Craig @AU.
Not gonna leave FSU just to be a WR Coach when he's QB Coach and Recruiting Coordinator already.
Plus, Hubbs is normally wrong.

Das Boonker TIFWIW Thread:
We're in the process of bringing Rocker back. He's being receptive, they're still working out a deal. Obviously, talks could break down at any time since he didn't leave AU on good terms
Dameyune Craig is being called back home. No word on his interest level (especially in regards to leaving Jimbo), but we're trying.
