I'm glad to see Aubie is still the official mascot. I got worried we were going to end up with Clemson's mascot when Gus was firing everybody.

Horton is the fifth Auburn coach who served previously as a recruiting coordinator.

I feel like we have a really good staff of recruiters but these guys in many instances can coach and develop too. And the two most important positions have proven they know how to coach - Gus and Ellis.
Since Rhett has been in the system as long as he has, I feel like he will be one who can develop talent. JB,Rich, Charlie and Melvin seem like they are coaches who develop players Craig, Rodney, and Horton a mix of both - probably more on the recruiting side
Funny thing is all the detractors on the main board either talk about how crummy our new staff is as a recruiter, when it's clear they're stronger at developing players. And vice versa- they say how bad person is as a coach when it's clear their strength and why we hired them is recruiting.

I like how every hire has ties back to the SEC. And some with extensive time spent coaching in the SEC.
Yep, and I also like how each coach has ties to a different recruiting area that surrounds us. Craig will be clutch in Mobile and FL, Garner in GA, Cheese has the SC ties as well as AL, Smith in MS, Horton along with Gus in Ark. It's a really nice balance.

Just went back and read my post and realize how obvious everything I said is.
Sorry I guys. I'm just so excited about the new staff

I like the write-up that ESPN did on Auburn hiring 3 coaches and completing our coaching staff in the past 24 hours

The role of recruiting coordinator - does anyone know if that is typically your top recruiting guy, your front line guy to HS coaches, your closer, someone that is responsible for coordinating who should be where, etc?
I don't recall seeing Luper's name as lead recruiter for a lot of our signees. Reading UGA's threads about Garner say he hasn't signed many recently. And same with Arkies' threads about Horton saying he was not a good recruiter.
I am not saying the opposing school posers are making me question Horton or Garner, just wonder what is the typical role of recruiting coordinator.

It's another coordinator spot. They don't have to be the top guy on the recruiting trail but they have to be organized and can coordinate people.
I would imagine that they start with the demands of the other coordinators and produce a list of prospects that could meet those requirements.

It was touch-and-go for a while. Rumor is Gus reached out to "The Tiger" (Clemson's Mascot) but he wasn't satisfied with the quantities of meth and acid we were offering. Jacobs dropping the ball again

They coordinate when recruits are coming on campus, what they'll do while they're here, who'll show them around, etc.
I'm pretty sure Luper was the one who came up with BCW (one thing I hope doesn't go away)

Didn't Gus copy BCW and the travel the state thing at Arky St?

Recruiting wise, our previous coaching staff was pretty revolutionary.
Tiger Prowl
Big Cat Weekend
all that other shite
People copied what they did all over the country

Can't believe that isn't some type of recruiting violation but that is a cool idea.

From what I understand its run like a camp...just done in the Swamp at night with full coaching staff and music.
It tightropes the whole "gameday atmosphere", but they have been doing it for years and a guaranteed closer for some recruits.
