....Among them, the new Auburn assistants have combined for 75 years of coaching experience in the SEC and have spent time at 11 different schools currently in the SEC.

The RB coach at Arizona State? Why are you mentioning him? Does he have ties to our coaching staff?

He has SEC ties but no ties to any of the new staff as far as I know. But I don't see that as really mattering. I think he would be an excellent hire.

Edit: also he could be huge in getting Jovon back to AU

I would think that Memphis ties would be bad for us until all the Jovon/Memphis stuff is sorted out completely.

This is who we need to hire for TE coach:

I would think that our TE coach will also be our ST coach. One of our 3 remaining hires is going to have to double up since we have 4 positions to fill (WR, RB, TE, ST). The TE coach would have the least on his plate.

RB's or TE's are usually where your ST coach comes into play. I wouldn't say that the TE coach has any "less" on his plate than the RB coach, in fact, I'd strongly argue that the RB position requires the absolute least real "coaching".

This staff really needs at least one (and more ideally two) younger, high energy coaches within the final 3 slots open. We've hired a lot of really old assistants. Experience and such is great, but you need balance on a staff and you need some high energy coaches that 18-22 year olds can ultimately relate to.

Here is why Chip long is a complete no-brainer to me:

-Alabama native and star player at UNA. Ties to the state means he knows the grounds and what he'd be walking into.
-Extremely young coach who has risen up the ranks quickly...this immediately signals obvious ability. GA'd under the Petrino's, who clearly know offense.
-At only 29 years old he was named as the Recruiting Coordinator at ASU. Larry Porter, who a lot of people want as RB coach, is on the same staff and it is Chip Long, not Porter, who is Graham's RC. He can obviously recruit.
-Has already shown success coaching the position. Worked with DJ Williams at Arkansas while he was a GA. When he moved on to Illinois he also assumed coaching the Fullbacks where he built one Jay Prosch into an All-American. HB/TE Chris Coyle led ASU in both receptions and yards this past season.
-Starred as a TE/WR at UNA under Mark Hudspeth. The relevance? Hudspeth employs a hurry-up/no-huddle offense that is both similar to and inspired by the offense that Malzahn employs. This means that Long already knows the basics and tempo requirements of the offense.

I am starting to wonder why we haven't made the rest of our offensive hires. Got to think that Malzahn (and I guess Lashlee ) had a good idea from the onset of who they wanted to hire and have talked to them.

So let's start speculating why we haven't hired WR, RB and TE coaches yet

I say at least one coach is in the NFL

They haven't been hired because they are looking at guys that are in Bowl games and/or finishing NFL games.

Well some want to believe that..... Never seen any reason to believe that, the vampire said it and some folks repeat it. When someone brings a single fact about troopers or Lupers committing a major violation, until then I will believe it is only secondary stuff. I do not believe Auburn did anything wrong in Memphis.

He got a secondary for rolling Toomers and calling out players names during Big Cat,, a recruit Winston came by the Auburn caravan. I do not think that makes him a dirty recruiter.

So for those always asking for facts, please point me to a verified story about Trooper being dirty.

Would you fricking stop with the Trooper knight shite? Park wasn't even talking about the fricker.

This thread is about the new staff and not about Trooper. Go start you a thread about Trooper, if that's who you want to talk about all the time.

re: **Official New Coaching Staff Thread** (Christmas Edition) (Posted on 12/25/12 at 6:12 p.m. to AUTiger5) Troop was a dirty recruiter, more than the average coach. It's no coincidence the NCAA was constantly snooping around. He was pretty good at covering his tracks, but it's not worth the risk IMO

Here you go.... Someone else brought up Trooper... Yes I defend him every time. Not sure why folks keep bringing him up.
