If Durkin wins out, I would be done for him as HC and hire a top OC.

Vibes and acumen. Good combo in college football. Somebody's gonna kick the tires one day and in a year like this year where you're starting at a pile of mid i think there's much worse experiments to run than the super bowl winning hard nosed cool guy with connections.
Again, what acumen and what vibes? The last time he was a successful HC was when George Bush was priming the nation about the 9/11 attacks. He just came off a 3-year stint at Oakland where he had 0 winning seasons, so the most recent sample on him is underwhelming. He has ZERO collegiate resume whatsoever.
Your idea on his "vibes" is basically driven by nothing other than the fact that he smartly placed himself into the media spotlight and has made a living by throwing his name out in NCAA and NFL coaching searches for the last ~15 years, which is the only reason why he is even still relevant at all. He just markets himself, that's it.

Have we gotten any details of offensive firings along with Hugh? Everyone that’s not a GA on that side of the ball needs to go. I’d let a GA take over the offense. Not even kidding.

P4 head coaches:
Kiffin (make him say no one more time)
Dilly Dilly (I doubt he leaves ASU, he graduated there and was raised in the valley).
Key
Lashlee (not sure he is worth the price he would require)
Lea
Drinkwitz (I am meh on him, even though he has done well).
G5 Head coaches:
Jon Sumrall
Eric Morris at North Texas (#2 offense in FBS football).
Alex Golesh at USF
Bob Chesney at JMU (top 10 total defense, top 30 offense in FBS). Has won everywhere he has been and is not yet 50.
P4 offensive coordinators:
Will Stein at Oregon
Brian Hartline at OSU
Mike Shanahan at Indiana
Kirby Moore at Mizzou (he runs the offense independent of Drink).
P4 defensive coordinators:
DJ Durkin - Has to be first choice. Ohio St. wanted him, every other coach knows what he can do. We are lucky a candidate like him is on staff already.
Shiel Wood at Texas Tech - Has them 6th in total D and 5th in scoring D nationally. Was a Broyles finalist at Tulane under Fritz. 43 years old.

If Durkin looks good and sneaks a win somewhere outside mercer then give him the damn job
Posted on 11/2/25 at 6:18 pm to HailToTheChiz
If we hire Drink or Durkin, we'll be right here again in a couple of years.

We need to open up the checkbook so we don't keep having to open it up again and pay off new coaches every 2 years

Should be Morris or Sumerall
However the PTB will go with the good ole boy network instead of just doing a proper search,

I have no idea about Morris but Sumrall is a no for me simply because his OC was Chad Morrris’s OC at SMU and Arky and I want nothing to do with the Chad Morris tree.

Durkin for sure. Might not even be a couple of years.

I hope you’re trolling. If not, you’re an idiot

That same question also applies to Sarkisian and Kiffin, and several other names that have been discussed.

Best thing about this coaching change is it always brings all the Auburn fans together on here.

I wonder how many people will be wrong about their guy this time.

That has worked out just phenomenally for North Carolina so far huh?

If Lanning has an ounce of testosterone in his gonads he will take a flight to Auburn and never look back.
Living in Oregon sheltered by biased media, rainfall, and weed has to make his success appear tiny.
