Kudos to Tim Watts of BOL who basically said if AU does land MJJ then we will have flat out beat Bama for him. He is an absolute take for Bama.

Also hat tip to Tay who is the 1st one I've heard say the chance to be showcased as the star WR of the class was/is a major factor for MJJ. That's something Tim Watts reiterated last night in his BOL update.

I’ve read this a few times and I’m not sure what this means, other than a poster liked him a lot. Which is a weird thing to give credit for. We’ve consistently brought him up, as a board, since he was offered and it was clear they wanted him in Schwartz’s role.

KN doesn’t seem to think much of this crew either based on some of his posts last night. Like I said before, I’m sure jboy comes across information since he’s talking to a lot of recruits for his show. But his game is to predict likely outcomes and he’s done a fantastic job promoting it

Here’s tay’s update from Monday on Johnson Jr

quote:

Malcom Johnson. Shaping up to be another auburn vs Alabama battle I believe. Maybe UGA. AU has brought a serious approach to his recruitment. Quietly worked him and his family. Think he wants to run track also. Guy is a speedster. Similar to Leary but taller. Kodi burns deserves a lot of credit if he pulls this off. AU has had recent zoom meeting with him explaining everything. Seen a recent CB by Wiltflong from him. AU trending in right direction. I’m doing more digging today to find out more.

This is pure nothingness and that board eats it up. “Explaining everything”. Explained what? “Think he wants to run track” Well, no shite. “Quietly worked him and his family” Again, this literally means nothing.

And the best part is that, on his update, he is going to “dig more” later Why wait after the update to find something out? It’s because he’s relying on rivals/247 for info and needs them to figure something out before he has anything else vague to add.

Keith has complimented Dukes many times & complimented Tay when Tay was the 1st to report AU is recruiting Kool Aid at WR as well as DB. I think his comments last night you are referring to were more geared to JBoy. I'm not crazy that they are alligned with JBoy recruiting wise but Dukes & Tay seem pretty good overall.

I was referring to his comments on the JBoy Podcast yesterday, not what he posted on the board. He was more zeroed in on the podcast.

If we get a 6' CB out of Ttown, I will be impressed. That kid seems to be a prototypical Saban DB.

He’s the defensive version of Henry Ruggs minus the top end speed. Bruce Pearl would is just as big in this as other coaches. Bruce has had zoom meetings with him...not only about playing basketball, but how he would be used. Other coaches did not do that, they simply told him he could play both sports.

so word is that the two Gadsden City players that are good. One of them accidentally shot the other in the head yesterday.

EDIT - the one shot plays at UAB already. The one that accidentally shot may be one of their good players.

10-4. Would be nice to see Auburn clean up in-state. Flip the kid committed to Tennessee (isn’t he Jerius McIntye’s cousin or something? Either way, he’s returning calls again), land Koolaid and then Lassiter.

Whoa. Solid. Again, I haven’t really been following until recently, but getting him enrolled is huge.

Wow, so he will be eligible this fall? I'm sure he will be a redshirt considering how late in the process it is, but that is wild.

The articles he definitely singles out Kodi and Morris in his recruitment. Kodi did a great job recruiting this kid and I think Morris was a big boost.

From what he was saying, we are pitching using him in the Sammy Watkins role in Morris's offense.

The schools we were up against also had some high draft pick receivers to work with. Watkins obviously is a Morris guy, not an Auburn guy, but I think the selling point is being able to plug him into Schwartz’s role right away. There’s not anyone else on the roster that’s built to do it. Kobe Hudson isn’t a burner. Dawson has that kind of speed too but I think he’s going to defense

Regardless, good job by the staff to sell that. Recruits like the opportunity to slide into a role that’s already productive. It’s how we lost Leary

Also, us having an opportunity to bring him into the 2020 class could have been a huge advantage

There was a lot of talk early that Kodi was struggling with recruiting / being our ace recruiter

Over the past couple rounds, he seems to have been killing it along with TWill. Glad those guys have really put it together on the trail

UAB LB Allen Merrick was shot in Gadsden. Reportedly, he has passed away.

He also gets to train with Schwartz on the track side so I'm sure that was a huge draw.
