How about bringing Steve Ensminger home

He sucked arse here. He sucked arse there.

Steve isn't the reason LSU is winning. Heisman QB, crazy receivers and Brady are the reasons.

Honestly, at this point I would promote Steele. He can retain his staff on the defensive side and do whatever needs to be done on offensive side.

Know people point to his HC record at Baylor but go and look at Baylor’s Wikipedia page by season. Baylor sucked before he got there and were bad several years after he left. Plus, that was 20+ years ago and he’s likely learned a lot having been at LSU, Bama, Clemson and now AU.

Honestly, assuming his D continues to play as well as they have under him, we just need a mediocre offense to win these big games.

I’d rather take this approach than hoping you catch lightening in a bottle by hiring an unproven commodity.

Hell, why not promote Garner.

If we end up buying Gustav out it’ll pretty much be all we can afford.

There’s still the option to use Aubie.

Steele is up there in age. Would rather bring in Cristobal who may keep D staff in place. His assistsnts at Oregon are PAC 10 guys. I would trust him to have the relationships to bring in a strong coordinator on O and let him bring in his staff. Other than Cadi, they all need to go

. . . only with one hell of a morals contract, printed in a big bold font, and covering much of page one.

eta: and yes he could compete with Saban, O, Muulens, and Smart from day one.

Hey, not a bad idea - wonder if we can get the HC classified as a work study position?

Good to see you again Nortizzle. Where ya been?

It'll be like Gus Part 2, only with a non-existent defense.

I’m not worried about Steele’s age. He has our defense playing lights out and we’d ensure we kept key defensive staff.

People say bring XYZ person in and make him keep the D. That’s not going to happen. Plus I don’t want a coach here who will let the school dictate those kinds of things. How we found ourselves in this predicament.

Honestly, there just aren’t a lot of coaches out there who would realistically come that excitement me. And I don’t want to take a chance while Saban is still at Bama. Let Steele coach for some years and see how he does. Keep some consistency around the program while Saban wraps up his tenure at Bama.

Edit: and for those of you suggesting Lane, not sure if serious or not but I don’t want that clown anywhere near AU. I’d keep Gus for the next decade if Kiffin was our only option.

I think he’s a good coach but I wonder if he would actually come here. My main concern with him is other than one year with the TB Bucs, he has no coaching experience in the South so I wonder about his SEC ties.

I hate to say it but I just don’t think Gus is going anywhere this year unless he chooses to leave or we get absolutely embarrassed by Bama which I don’t see happening.

AU has to consider the school’s image if it fires an 8-4 coach whose team is in top 25, beat one top ten team and only losses were to #1, #4, #5 and #10. I know people will say Gus is hurting our program but that’s only the perception of our fans. I was at the game Saturday and that place didn’t empty until the very end. Despite the fans who have given up their season tickets or don’t watch anymore there are still a lot who do.

The best hope is Gus is tired of hot seat talk Year after year and goes somewhere he’ll feel appreciated. Only problem is he knows AU is his best chance to win championships and he’s also stubborn AF.
