Any idea if Freeze called plays at Ole Miss when he was there?

I have certainly questioned his coaching, but I'm gonna let this year play out and reform my opinion of him. He'll have his best team this coming year. Two of the best WRs in college footalball. See what he can do with it. No more excuses.

Yeah we’re not even this good. Our record this decade is 28–33. Our SEC record is 15–26. We have made a lot of personnel upgrades with Freeze, but the performance is about the same as it’s been the last several years, which is under-.500. I haven’t seen anything that makes me believe Freeze knows how to utilize the talent he has or put together a competent offense. Our playcalling was some of the weirdest, dumbest shite I’ve ever put my eyeballs on.

What is it going to take to compete again? You need someone who fully embraces NIL and the transfer portal. Unfortunately, that’s where we are today. A lot of the old school guys like Freeze and Dabo Swinney haven’t made any secret of their skepticism of NIL, but you can’t build a successful program anymore just by recruiting at the high school level. College football is the NFL right now basically.

To be honest my remembrance of Hugh at OM centered primarily upon his use of a phone.

Everybody has brutal schedules right? Also, this is magnified when you're not that good... any schedule would be brutal.

I'm a bit tired of this excuse.

We have talent on the roster. This year the team better look different or his hot seat gonna keep warming up.

Maybe one day we'll make someone's schedule more difficult.

none of those teams would have been bowl eligible in 2024 without us

Depressingly, I will take……under.

However, there is some great humor to be found in our misery….

Hugh has to win this year. His resume so far is embarrassing. Blown out at home against Utah State and losing handily at Vanderbilt could have warranted firing. Thin fricking ice this year.

From what I’ve gathered in his interviews, he’s not delaying treatment really. For men with localized, low-risk prostate cancer, active surveillance is often the standard of care. I’m betting that’s where he’s at even though he hasn’t said much more.

I hope he goes with a cyber knife treatment. My old friend's father took that route with 5 treatments in one week. Almost no side effects because the radiation is very precisely mapped to a 3d model of the cancer. The laser like emitter rotates all around making only its center point of axis able to kill cells. They move the axis around based on the 3d model of the cancer.

Prostate cancer is very slow. My father had it for over 20 years.

If he does get fired, does anyone really have any confidence that we'll make a good hire?

This is just false. Those questioning Freeze’s coaching are completely justified. We are pulling in talent in with absolute bull shite on the field. Freeze by all accounts is working the NIL game, despite on field success.

one of my best AU buddies was diagnosed in 2018, still doing the active surveillance thing

meanwhile, as a few here might remember, i was diagnosed in December 2019 and had a prostatectomy in April 2020 just as Covid was kicking into high gear

i’m very happy to report that 5 years later i’m still cancer free and everything still works as designed

We have been doing fine NIL and portal wise. Refusing to pay for another QB in the past two years is the only flub I see.

We need to stop beating this dead horse. We either improve this year or we do not. If we don't, we all know what will and needs to happen.

I, for one, am holding out hope and am optimistic. I did see some things on the field I didn't like last year. Clock management for example. What game was it where we had Towns McGough sprinting onto the field for a FG before time expired? And another game (or maybe the same game) coach called a TO seconds before 2 min warning. I get that a stoppage is a stoppage but I remember at the time somewhat questioning that. Would've been nice to have that TO in our back pocket. But these can be learning lessons. Granted, some are lessons an SEC coach shouldn't have to learn, but it is what it is.

If we win the IB and 7 other games, we are, at minimum, showing movement in the right direction. You don't make a change at that point and become 2000-2020 Tennessee. Even with 7 wins IMO. I think most would agree our ceiling is much higher.

I'm beginning to doubt Freeze's judgement after losing so many games to teams with less talent last year. That's not good coaching by any means.

Then too he turned A-Day into a total non-event. That's just bad PR.

If he craps the nest again this year, he's gone.

Nearly universal across CFB now. Poor criteria.

Blame the school and the rest of college football. A-Day as we knew it is done.

Only way he's not back is if he goes 0'fer in the SEC or has a scandal
