I like how this has come full circle. What you posted is why it is important Nick gets qualified and in school. It is obvious he is being counted on to bring immediate help to the QB position, because we all know that Frazier (mental) and Wallace (Big Heart, but lacks the rest) are not the answer to our needs at QB. Nick pergorming will give JJ the time to soak up all that he needs to prepare for the future.

Here's to Nick coming in and doing big things and to JJ actually living up to the expectations and potential.

If not I will have extreme sad face for 2013.

Nothing other than tweets between Brandon King and Nick discussing the hold up. Brandon asked Nick when he thought he would be in Auburn and Nick said, and don't quote me, The next day or two basically. So nothing confirmed, but looks to be just a technicality that will be resolved.

For some here, that is a given when I say I got off work but I didn't want some of you, who are in the shadows waiting to pounce on us no internet access workers, to DIAF or GFY because we are not caught up on the days happenings.

But for the most part, I want you all to suffer when you are at work and school all day and I am fricking fishing.

Not really. You were basically endorsing Nick because Gus wanted him just like he wanted Cam. It's as if you are implying that since Gus wanted Cam and that turned out well and now Gus wants Nick so you like his chances of success. I was merely pointing out a situation where Gus wanted someone and it didn't work out well and I'm sure Gus was apart of the decision to play Frazier early which many believe destroyed his confidence.

2011 didn't destroy Frazier...2012 did. Before last spring, he probably hadn't taken a snap from behind center in his life. So the change in offense in 2012 is what killed him, not 2011.

So are you saying because Gus chose Frazier and that hasn't turned out so well, and now Gus wants Nick you don't like his chances of success? I was merely pointing out a situation where Gus wanted someone (Cam) and it worked out great, and I am positive Gus was a part of that decision to play Cam in 2010. Which many believed was the reason we won a NC and catapulted Cam to #1 NFL pick.

I do not believe that Gus is an expert QB talent evaluator. You can tell he didn't really know what he had with Cam till midway through the season (quite frankly none of us knew just how high his talent level was either)

That said, even great coaches strike out on QB evaluations. So it is not the end of the world because Gus does have a track record of putting guys in situations to succeed above their talent level.

It is unquestioned that Nick Marshall is a superior athlete and you can see in his film he can hurl a football. Question becomes if Gus can make his offense conducive to a gunslinger to avoid turnovers (even if we are down).

I believe Gus can and has done that in the past. Even the Barrett Trotter/Clint Moseley debacle wasn't necessarily that bad considering the talent levels of the team, QBs and OLine (effing awful).

I never said Malzahn is a great evaluator. In fact if everyone would go back to the original post I responded to they will see we have gone off track a bit. The poster said Nick has become a legend due to 247 and rivals. I asked how did they do that? No one thinks Nick is a legend, but based on film, stats, scouting, and opinions he looks to be very good and a great fit for CGM's O.

Gus was big on Cam Newton and was the force behind getting him to Auburn. He had an idea Cam would be very good, but Cam showed even more. Gene didn't necessarily want him iirc. Gus made Todd look good. Frazier was highly recruited and ran Gus's offense very well in HS, why wouldn't he bring him here. A few theories out there on why Frazier has failed. Look at what the kid at Arky State did last year. Gus can coach a QB and you can hardly blame 2011 on Malzahn with all of Gene's meddling.

Your last statement is worded as if Nick is a loose cannon and Gus is going to have to put the screws to him to conform. I disagree with that completely. It has been pointed out many times here that the offense he played in Juco required him to be gunslinger due to a poor team defense, and the play calling. Which opened him up to more turnovers. Obviously it is a risk to sign any player to a certain degree. Nick will have to prove what he can do in CGM's offense.

btw, it is obvious you didn't see what I did there in the post you responded to.

Nick Marshall remains on track to report to Auburn in the next few days and start school on Monday. The same for the rest of Auburn's signees other than J Smith and E Robinson.
