My memory is off with that, not that I really paid much attention to it, but was he really just guilty of culture problems? Pretty sure I remember reports of other brutal stuff he was up to, but he wasn't around when his assistant ran the kid to death? Why is it basically okay nationally for OM or A&M to hire him in the immediate aftermath of it all, but not us or Bama after two previous stops post-incident. Maybe I missed the criticism.

Right, but OM hired him barely a year later, which was probably better than hiring Chris Beard four months later, but people just like to pick and choose who gets away with what in sports. Did A&M or OM get a lot of criticism? Surely there was some. Anybody that hires him now will have waited over five years. If they want to be mad about his future jobs, be mad at OM.

Good DC will be linked to many jobs including Bama.

The way Lane is all AU at the moment leads me to believe we’ve already hired his brother and he’s having fun with it

I think that has more to do with Nix than his brother.

Bama recruiting is about to go into the dark ages

I’m getting a little impatient at this point. Time to hire a fricking OC and DC.

Seems like a solid hire. Interesting move on his part but he probably has a better shot getting a good HC job if he succeeds at bama. Still, it sounds like this guy was likely their third choice at DC. Let’s hope we don’t have to go that deep.

Wommack is a rising star imo. Also makes sense to help with inroads to all the Alabama HS coaches although in another sense does a Bama HC need that?

We probably used to say “Does an AU HC need inroads to all the Alabama HS coaches” and Harsin answered that question for us.

Yes. Absolutely yes. A coach no matter what school can destroy relationships quick with these high schools.

Absolutely. Getting on the HS coaches’ shite list is a good way to get your arse kicked in state. e.g. Potato Man

The USA head coach isn’t going to move the needle with top recruits. He grossly underperformed this year.

Yeah but I guess I’m wondering if DeBoer is gonna try to basically inherit and run with the national Bama brand Saban created or is he going to go about recruiting more traditionally

In the era of NIL, without Saban, I thing the perception that “Alabama recruits itself” is gone.

About sums it up. Kind of surprised Wommack would make the move

G5 HC to Coordinator at Bama is basically lateral move.
