They've been saying they believe he's the leader. Doesn't mean that they think he's the best fit.

There's always a bunch of smoke around a certain candidate being a leader when we do one of these. Gill over Chizik, Petrino over Malzhan, etc.

I won't be surprised if this is a similar situation. But then again, this is Auburn. Our M.O. is the unexpected.

AL.com, the bammer mouthpiece. Of course they’re pushing Steele to get the job.

We would be a fool not to hire him. Put two good coordinators with him and we are off.

You're joking right?

What makes Steele a good hire? What has he done but coach D for all these years? how much as he been involved in recruiting? He's 62, so how do we know how he is going to manage a game? We have NOTHING to go by, but he is what some here think is the best thing....

I don't see that moving forward from what we got with Gus.

I hate the Steele as a leading candidate narrative and it seems ridiculous.

I think it was intentionally pushed by the power brokers to get us through tomorrow's ESD.

I think the real candidates for the job start getting leaked on Thursday and this will get super weird and fun.

I think MC is the guy and the Pac 12 putting Oregon in the championship game was like someone turning on the lights on in a movie theater filled with teenagers. Everyone got caught doing something and now it's weird for a second.

After Oregon's game on Friday, I think the announcement will happen an hour or two before kick off of the SEC championship game for max buzz during the game.

I'll cry if its steele. Not even just because its a bad hire (it is), but moreso the face that it would basically confirm that we have idiots running the show

Yeah, if it's Steele it will really damper my "give a shite" about Auburn football for a long, long while.

Ron said earlier that Gus was dysfunctional with the coaches and that Steele would make the culture better. “Fix the culture” is what I believe he said.

The dysfunction starts the top imo.

Someone has to be leaking the Steele info. There's wayyy too much smoke for it to just be random. I'm just scared that the powers have decided on Steele and one person who disagreed is leaking it to try to cause a fan uproar.

I mean realistically it makes 0 sense at all to hire Steele but we hired a 5-19 Chizik so who knows at this point.

You can get someone to rule with an iron fist not named Steele.

Auburn needs someone like Saban that has the balls to come in and kick all of the micro managers / busy bodies out of the AD or it will continue to be the same.

Outside of a few knuckleheads that love to run their mouth after making a tackle 12 yards downfield, is there a bad culture problem at Auburn?

That's kinda like the last thing I'm worried about as a fan with this hire.

If it's Steele, there's no good reason to wait two days to announce. It's not Steele.

His players played hard for him. I can’t speak to the coaching rifts but whatever they were they were suppressed.
