This is the plan to make it look like they had a big search and Steele is still their guy.

Many heads would explode. I won't ask if we're that stupid.

Does anyone know if these are new followings?

Someone asked Eric Wilson (Harvard grad transfer OL) and he said that Cristobal followed him back in high school and he’s never spoken to him

I would expect a Harvard grad to be able to think up a good cover story on his feet.

Yeah.. Its confirming what we're already heard from PM though. Say what you want about BM but he's good at finding the dirt at Auburn and likes talking about it.

Gumps on the Rant about to have an orgasm that Steele is being listed as the #1 candidate.

Luke, call Allen Greene and tell him to abort.

Honestly. The fact we would fire Gus and hire someone already on staff never even entered my mind.

You think people are apathetic now? Get ready for next year.

If we hire Steele at $3-4m, I'd bet we break even with Gus' buyout assuming the DC/OC are not a combined $3m

Not if you factor in the revenue hit that would take.

So Josh Pate had tweeted that nothing was decided on Kevin Steele and not to even consider Freeze or Briles. Also Auburn is not even taking Signing Day into account in consideration for a time table.

So let me get this straight - they are going to fire a head coach, pay him $21mm in a global pandemic as a buy-out, only to promote everyone on the staff thereby effectively doing substantively nothing for the program TWO DAYS before a signing day? That's unconscionable and I just cannot believe it. If Steele was the top choice, why would you not do this in the spring after signing day?

Please. Don't try to bring logic into this.

100%. It shouldn't have even got to this point with all these rumors and everything. That alone should tell you a lot about the people in charge of this, money guys included.

Truthfully I would rather have TWill than Steele.. Its a risk but at least its one with tons of upside.
