On what planet does Urban Meyer leave Ohio State, turn down Texas, but say yes to Auburn?

It’s not going to happen.

But people overrate Texas all the time. They’re a has-been shite program with problems behind the scenes. They’ve had more .500 seasons or worse than better since 2009. It’s also a boring conference to play in. There are literally 2-3 good teams - and barely good - in the entire conference.

It might seem like Texas is the bigger name than Auburn, but they’re not. We can pull in plenty of high quality recruits and the prestige of winning the SEC conference is light years ahead of the Big 12.

Texas can go 0-12 for the next 5 years and they’d still be a bigger name than Auburn

My guess. We thought we had MC locked up, MC is staying at Oregon with a big raise. Folks are against Freeze for many reasons.

This is absolutely it. We missed and now we're scrambling. Not a good place to be in.

lol it took less than 24 hrs for AU to miss all of its targets and to be in "scrambling" mode

I know.

Someone states a guess...and everyone jumps on it like it came from inside the PTB or the AD.

Typical no man's land when it comes to firing and hiring a coach...

Come on guys, this isn’t Black Friday shopping and all coaching shelves are empty

I really doubt we up and fired Gus, with that buyout, and we don’t have someone already in the works.

why do people say they are a better and bigger name than us? All of this is based on success they had in the 60s and 70s. Sooner or later, when all these oldheads die, they will be exposed for what they are - an overfunded, underperforming average football program. No one under the age of 45 considers Texas A successful program other than the Vince Young squad in ‘05.

Same with ND, but even they’ve found more success since the 70s as much as I despise them and hate admitting that.

Some of these names thrown out...if we fired Gus and settle, we deserve everything we get.

Seems like it is Cristobal/Freeze then Kiffin/Napier.

On a planet where he wants to not only beat saban, but destroy his legacy. People that compete at a high level do not merely win. We annihilate and embarrass our competition to the point that they not only acknowledge defeat, but mire in it.

This is what Georgia has been doing to us. Kirby isn’t in saban’s level, he’s on just a bit higher than gus. Gus has gotten lucky a few times with trick plays, good luck, and thinking outside the box. An Urban Meyer would beat Georgia like a red headed stepchild, and seek to destroy a Nick Saban and take his throne.

You can’t do something like that at Texas. Winning at Texas is easy mode. Winning at Auburn is irrefutable proof of being elite.

Look, I love Auburn just as much as anyone else here. But that statement is just objectively false.

Maybe when Mac was there, but UT is not very attractive, ATM. They once had free run of the state, but OU and TAMU have eroded that gap.
