The Steele stuff seems like misdirection. It’s too coordinated.

It reeks of opposing fans and staffs trying to poach what few recruits we have. I just can't believe we'd be that incompetent.

Ron said that Allen Greene didn't even want to fire Gus and it wasn't his call

Also hinted that Greene may already be out of his job too

Steele choice is because our money guys have pushed for him, and have also wanted him since 2018. Plus Ron says it's to save money

How does it save money?

There is absolutely no chance on God's green earth we bought out Gus Malzahn to promote Steele. Seriously, none. Not sure why this is being peddled. And I know I'm just shooting the messenger here, but still.

My guess. We thought we had MC locked up, MC is staying at Oregon with a big raise. Folks are against Freeze for many reasons.

So now what? Billy Napier (my choice), Steele, or an assistant at another school?

Steele would not excite anyone, but it does fit the "Anybody but Gus" mindset. Who knows, if he hired a competent OC he could at least do as good as we have had recently

So what’s the point? Pay the buyout and get the same results. You’re just burning cash at that point. Whoever is making the decisions has to be trying to move the program forward. You don’t do that by hiring Steele.

This is a huge hire. Last time we hired a head coach, going rates for top coaches was 4-5 million. That price tag is now 8-10 million, eight years later.

I don't know this Ron guy other than many people on 247 respect and trust him. He is one of the mods. I do not know what gain there is to throw out BS like that.

IF we do what he says....I literally will never watch another AU football game. I will still support BP and Mens BB but I will cancel Football. I hate it because it is one of my top loves but that would be the ultimately spineless Dumbassery move of the century for AU. That is worse than Chizik or Gus hires. That is mindblowing. I would have rather kept Gus than do that.

Kiffin hasn’t tweeted in almost 24 hours. Before that, I can’t find a day that he didn’t tweet all the way back to September. Didn’t go further than that. Not saying it means anything but when it was brought up yesterday and it intrigued me so I wanted to know the last time he didn’t tweet for a day. I got tired of searching after I hit September.

Justin Hoke and Jake Crain both say it won’t be Kevin Steele. I don’t know if Justin Hoke has sources anymore, or maybe he does, but both expect him to probably get a courtesy interview and not be hired. They both also stated they would love to see him and his defensive staff return in full, which I would agree with, and hopefully find a HC that would be okay with that. That wouldn’t persuade Auburn to not hire a coach if the coach said no, though.

Auburn could’ve had Lane Kiffin.

They wouldn’t put their damn chips on the table, though.

Honestly, not many potential coaching hires out there get me excited. I honestly thought we'd be keeping Gus for another year.

last year Gus' buyout alone would have been pushing $27M.
