Napier recognized it, called it out, and said thanks but no thanks Auburn. Smart guy.
Anyone with a brain can recognize it. Auburn has that reputation/history. Alabama cleaned theirs up with Saban. He won't allow it. I heard someone say about Auburn boosters one time:
Their pursuit or thirst of power means that they would rather Rule in Hell than serve in Heaven.

Yeah, well, we don’t have a Nick Saban out there that would accept this job. Alabama was also prepared to give Nick Saban full control while Auburn won’t even tell the dumb frick boosters to stop jerking off in the Auburn football locker room.

Latest on Napier:
We’re told he pulled his name from consideration after he was offered limited flexibility on staff hires. Napier wanted full authority. It’s a ballsy move for a younger coach, but he’s not your normal young coach. His pedigree is outstanding and he also has that trailblazer attitude.
He’s the kind of guy who walks when he’s seen enough. He’s heard the chatter about Auburn’s political treachery, saw it with his own eyes with the staff edict and said: Nope, I’m good.
Interesting twist to say the least.

I will see this search out. If it ends in a Steele/Clark type hire where we are piecing together a staff for the new guy, then I am completely out. You baws can watch this shite. I will be a Padres fan from here on out.

Who do we think paid the buyout to fire Gus? Why would we then expect them to fund the buyout but then relinquish control? Sucks, but this is what you get when everything is propped up by a few power donors.

You know, I bought YellaWood for a project one time.
It was shite wood. Full of knots and the boards weren't straight.
Also, Jimmy Rane is fat.

Now I don't want anyone else. If you are good enough to be a head coach, you should be given autonomy over your success. So fricking stupid.
Give it to fricking Steele and lets all try to enjoy watching him fail.

I'm not sure the veracity of "we'll hire you but you have to keep certain assistants", but I could see it as a possibility
FWIW, Kiffin and Steele are friends. Steele and Monte go way back

I don’t want Sark or Kiffin. Neither of them are Auburn caliber.
