Yella Fella and Harbert just need to lock Napier into a 4 year, $18m deal today.

God let it be Napier.
After reading his resume, factoring in his age, coaching tree, and the $$$ factor, Napier is the guy to get. That being said, if he turns us down, we are in big, big trouble. I'm talking Tennessee, 10 years of shitty recruiting and 7-5 seasons.

quote:Yep. Elliot's resume is far less impressive than Sark's, and I'm not a huge Sark fan. Sark has been an HC, NFL OC, and currently the OC of a team that is setting records on offense with a QB that no one saw doing, what he's been doing.
What makes Elliot the gold standard of assistants? So as far as being an assistant you think Elliot is better then Sark? You’re outta your mind. Now could he be a better head coach? Maybe but why the hard on for Elliot. I don’t get it

Lane joking about Auburn again, doesn't seem that he is in the mix.
Well, if Lane is out, I'm all in for Napier. Give the man control and lets ride for four years without any other cooks in the kitchen. He needs an honest shot to build his own program.
All other names are so meh, I might not have an erection for the next week.

If they hire Steele, don’t kid yourself. We won’t be Tennessee.

But being realistic and wanting to win championships, Garner is the only one with any business coaching at AU.
The rest are there because Gus has a shitty coaching tree and people like Rane & Harbert told him to hire them.
I agree with that, but i would add Caddy to who we should keep. For being a RB coach, and he is just getting started, I feel he could be great as a recruiter, as well as teaching our RBs.
The rest can go....we need great recruiters but also great position teachers.

Sark has been an HC
Here's his HC resume-
@ Washington
5-7(inherited 0-12)
7-6
7-6
7-6
8-4
@ USC
9-4 (inherited a 10-4 team)
3-2 fired midseason = FAILURE

NFL OC
@ the ATL Falcons
The offense's scoring output, under his guidance, dropped from 33.8 points per game (leading the NFL in 2016) to 22.1 points per game in 2017. In 2018, the offense's scoring improved to 25.9 points per game. On December 31, 2018, he was fired as offensive coordinator. = FAILURE

and currently the OC of a team that is setting records on offense with a QB that no one saw doing,
So about the Mac Jones is it? Every other position on Alabama's offense is NFL caliber, the QB was the only question mark. He was a 4 star #9 QB in his recruiting class. Now he's playing great and it's solely because of Sarkisian?
So to recap Sark's career-
Head coaching reached as high as meh. Ended fired in disgrace.
NFL OC- walked offensive production backwards and was fired.
Bama OC- ate booger on TV, took an NFL quality OLine, NFL quality RB, NFL quality WRs, and a 4 star QB and dominated SEC play in a peculiar year.
So the only thing I can see that is even remotely a high point for Sark is he won 2 more games at Washington than his predecessor and Mac Jones's development as QB. Let's give him the keys.
If Sark is the answer, the only question could be "who ate boogers on TV." The question certainly isn't who is the best coach for the job at Auburn.

As sad as it is, they all can go. The new staff needs NO restrictions or recommended hires. They need autonomy or we're back here in 4-6 years doing this again.

I was about to ask where you were seeing this lol.

Great interview! Shuler was 100% correct. Someone needs to listen to that man. He mentioned everything that a few of us have continuously posted here.
1. Auburn is special. One of 10-12 programs that can win a NC.
2. We need to go for a top notch coach. Don't have to settle.
3. Auburn can be its own enemy. Meddling boosters.
4. Brought up the Clemson/Auburn program comparison. I have been harping on this for a year.I
5. Malzahn needed to go. Weak/bad fit. Bad atmosphere among two D coach's. One pro Malzahn. One anti Malzahn. If true we need to totally clean house.
6. He told the truth regarding Kiffen and Freeze. Especially Kiffen. He is a scumbag.

From jboy’s podcast there was infighting going on with D coaches. Sure sounds like RG and Twill. If so, this is on Gus as well as KS. Keep caddy, perhaps McGriff but fire the rest. Perhaps new ciach will also keep Bick but thats it

Or just fire them all and bring in who he wants
Posted on 12/19/20 at 9:58 am to AUarch79
He said on the interview that Malzahn asked the anti coach to resign. The anti coach looked him in the eyes and said "Fire me". And Gus blinked because of the support/relationship that the anti coach had with a booster. Malzahn was finished at that point. Weak leadership and very, very bad atmosphere/environment.

And you are believing all of this to be accurate?

I just hope that enough of the AU powerbrokers agree with you as well.

Well RG was his boy. So it had to be TWill.
ETA
I hope one of you hits the lotto so we have an in as a booster. We can have a direct line to coaching decisions

Do you know Rob Shuler? I do and Rob Shuler is no liar. Also knew Kurt Crain. Had several classes with them at Auburn. Rob said that it needs to be investigated by the committee to learn the extent of it. If true, Malzahn was in a bad position. A no win situation. No wonder he was so paranoid.
