Almost certainly a Derek Mason recommendation. He hired Eason briefly at Vandy before he went to Cincy.

And wonder why Rocker was first choice?
My guess is he was looking for a guy with AU ties and Bobo may have recommended him since they had worked together at UGa and SC. Mason had coached against him and signed off on the hire.

After Rocker bolted I guess he let Mason recommend someone, which was apparently Eason.

Just speculation, obviously, but it makes me feel better

Good thing coaches don't get butthurt like some on this board.

Makes me wonder if Eason thinks Zac Taylor will be fired next year in Cincy.

I believe Eason wasn't retained this year from the Bengals. Regardless, he's probably in a better spot.

I think Ted Roof and Ellis Johnson recommended him.

Gus hired high school coaches. Harsin hiring NFL coaches

This has been my biggest takeaway of Harsin putting his staff together. Not just the NFL guys, but just the major difference in the whole approach.

These guys may not set the world on fire, but he didn't bring in a bunch of buddies or guys that are just along for the ride. These coaches have been on their own from all over the place. The didn't come up in his system and it's all they know like so many of the Gus guys.

Yes, Harsin brought some of his guys. But for the most part, they're all behind the scenes off the field types. Those guys know what Harsin expects and can handle the day to day operations. While the on field staff seem to be highly technical and fundamentals driven in their approach.

On paper, it looks to be like a system that will set up for success. The foundation is being laid, and he must be given some patience to install his entire system/process. I, for one, am excited just because I'm seeing a different approach.

We need the young guy fully on board. Hardy, Handy, Walker... They can all be very good players but gotta buy in to all aspects not just their position coach. The entire program from diet to workouts.

I didn’t take that as a positive tweet. He has the cringe emojis all throughout it. It seemed sarcastic

The quote was exciting, but the eye rolling emojis and others made it look sarcastic. Hope it wasn't.

Bruh.

Is a 33 year old gonna have to explain emojis?

He used this emoji

Which isn't cringe but usually equated to tired, either emotionally, physically, or from being blitzed.
It's called the "woozy" emoji.

I feel sad that I know emojis.
