i seem to recall one of the selling points on Freezus was that he was capable of turning a program around quickly, like he did at Ole Miss (2-10 to 7-6 with a bowl win) and Liberty (6-6 to 8-5 with a bowl win)

He sold this himself at his introduction press conference. Do you remember his reasoning? The transfer portal makes it quicker -the one thing that he is admittedly struggling with at the moment.

Of course, nobody expected him to get it turned around right away.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of the program and all of that............but it's pretty damn important getting your team ready to play. Freeze failed miserably with that a few times this year. The luster has worn off for me seeing the last month of the season and now today.

Yea, that continues to be the constant talk when we lose these games that we feel we should win

Id ask the "recruiting is the lifeblood" guys, how do you think we matched up against Maryland yesterday as far as talent goes? How have both teams recruited the last 3-4 cycles which would affect the game yesterday

Oddly, I thought Auburn had chosen to hire, at a salary of nearly $8M per year, a HEAD FOOTBALL COACH and not a Head Recruiter-In-Chief.

I bet Nick and Kirby don’t find it difficult to manage both their coaching and recruiting responsibilities.

I’m beginning to fear that Hugh might be basically lazy when it comes to things like team preparation, game-planning, and game-day. You know… those things that an actual COACHING gig are fundamentally about.

If what is rumored is true, that Brother Hugh basically turned 100% of bowl-prep over to his coordinators so he could be exclusively Head Recruiter-In-Chief in that period, that is shocking. Just shocking.

Wow. Didnt hear that. But its odd that so many say bowls dont matter. But some of us have watched them for a long time and think they matter.

I would have really liked for Auburn to have come out and competed yesterday and in the end, do what they should have done. Beat a program that overall is inferrer to Auburn. Instead of once again being embarrassed on a national stage. Again

Bad loss all the way around.

Then the OC should be met at the door with a box and told to empty out his locker.

And the DC needs to apologize to each senior in person.

Would you rather him secure our signing class and look at portal targets or give that energy into a meaningless bowl game?

Monty needs to go. He can’t be trusted with the offense to game plan and he has zero recruiting ability.

I'd rather him recruit his arse off instead of spend time in the bowl prep.

I believe freeze is working double time trying to build relationships with high school athletes. I think it will pay off in the end. He needs to locate some coordinators he is more in line with. Don't think that's the case with Montgomery for sure. Roberts has done ok through the year but makes a lot of bonehead calls at inopportune times. Maybe year 2 will see a more cohesive team. Needs to do much better in the portal recruiting!

Definitely a poor performance yesterday, and a lot of it lays at the feet of our receivers. However, with a group with modest talent, and more importantly, being told you're not good and will be replaced is not going to motivate you to do your best.

Not saying we don't need better players or shouldn't go after them, but it's a delicate balance to do that and get the max from the guys we already have. Maybe we shouldn't be surprised.

Regardless of outcome, the game didn’t matter. Finishing recruiting this year is 1million times a bigger deal than that shitty bowl game.

Not a freeze apologist but winning this bowl game means nothing… bringing in new blood with the talent to compete is everything

Every time a rival coach points to the fact that Freeze can't motivate a team to even show up multiple times a season, it will matter.

We need recruiting. They have to equal wins at some point. What I've seen from Freeze, I'm not sure talent will make up that much ground. And he's going to have to re-recruit every recruiting gain every single year with all the negative recruiting he's earned chasing him at every turn. It matters.
