Just because the analytics say go for it doesn't mean you have to. Sometimes you gotta use some human critical thinking skills.

I would bet the analytics said to punt in those situations and Harsin decided to go for it. I have a hard time seeing the math working out to 4th and 10 being a “go for it” situation.

And at almost midfield. It made no sense.

The largest come back win for LSU in 25 years

I just went to look and this is not right. We were up 20 in 17 when they came back to beat us.

It’s pretty clear coaching is not our problem.

I'm truly perplexed by this perspective. Could you explain a bit more?

(1) The coaching staff has had two recruiting cycles to bring in guys they want. Who fit their schemes. The recruiting classes have been horrible.
(2) Instead, they've had record people leaving in the transfer portal.
(3) They inherited a roster full of 4 star talent other than the OL position and haven't recruited Oline.
(4) Bigsby is bouncing runs because his yards before contact is NEGATIVE by like half a yard... He's breaking tackles behind the LOS most runs.
(5) Ashford started the year as third string and the offense isn't built to his strengths at all.
(6) We make zero halftime adjustments. We score no points in the second half against anyone with a pulse.

To be honest I'm impressed the players haven't quit on these coaches. We're spiraling to a TN decade with Harsin. He is absolutely the worst AU coach of my lifetime but I wasn't around for Barfield.

I was around for Barfield.

We weren’t this incompetent.

We were also tough as nails.

Yep.

There are no Joe Cribbs, Freddie Smiths, Bob Harris's, George Stephensons, Keith Ueckers, Frank Warrens, and Donnie Humphreys on this squad.

George Stephensons,

Our offensive line should pull his game tape.

When the whistle blew, GS would launch into anyone.

And Barfield made about $40K a year. My how times have changed.

Also, Barfield lost to LSU by a score of 21-17 his last season.

The place was rocking. Harsin had everything he needed.

Getting what was the 3rd string QB up to speed on his reads is going to be a lift so I’d guess we’re using a limited playbook. Having an effective short passing game is tougher than people give it credit.

Something interesting I saw that the LSU band was ignoring when we were in the North end zone during the third quarter, taken from the SEC bylaws, and was the case when I played:
"Bands, and any component thereof (e.g. drums), shall not play from the time the offensive center puts a hand on the football until the football has been snapped. [Revised: 6/1/18] "

They played thru an entire kickoff too.

They played all the way to the snap on multiple drives.

That must be why we sucked in the 2nd half. Some fat virgin playing the trumpet distracted everyone
