I don't think ine can really know that. He's coached for a whole two seasons as the head guy.

The complaints about Gus were regarding his passing game + stubbornness/predictable play calls.
Rhett’s passing game at SMU is nothing like Gus’. He coached under Sonny Dykes with an air raid which influences his passing game in a huge way. Gus’ running concepts were always great and never the problem (sometimes play calls were tho)

I agree Hugh has made some dumb in-game coaching decisions, but….it would be stupid to even think about firing him now.

A lot of true freshman on the field making plays, we just are not there yet but look at recruiting, we are getting there. You don’t get over the great potato famine in 2 years.
