I’ve always wondered if he’s related to the Johnny crane guy on here. That would be too obvious right? And yes he is the one who cried about the WR coach lol they have some decent knowledge from what I can tell but they are extremely annoying and act like they’re a much bigger deal than they actually are

Yeah never heard of Charlie5 before I started listening to locked on about a year ago, but this is the only board I check. Would love to hear Zac come on one day and say “today I welcome on auburn message board legend Jang/Chex/Lanier/Alpine/Freeman/etc…”

Ah well.

you can be a armchair Qb and still call that one right.

This is how Corch gets drug into these threads…. Just an example to a question the other day of why do you argue with people on the board.

Carry on. And I think Charlie5 won the debate based on not name calling or screaming

Jake Crain seems like a dick

He's gotten even worse since Daily Wire picked up a podcast he does with his brother and some ex-Michigan QB named David Cone. First time I heard it, I was wondering what went wrong in the former MLB pitcher's life that he had to co-host a podcast with Jake Crain.

Kurt Crain was a hell of a linebacker.

RIP

Joey Jones on Kurt's death

RIP. I imagine those two had quite a few stories and knew / talked a lot of football. Old school.

Crain is what’s wrong in social media/news. I’m not saying he doesn’t know his stuff, but 100% he tries to sound smarter than he is. I hate how industries talk in obscure jargon and the act like you’re an idiot if you don’t get it. People can appreciate concepts even if they don’t know what it’s called in the industry. I actually think the smartest people in the world are those they can take a complex concept and explain it in an extremely simple way to anyone. Football is relatively simple , even schematically. Crain is one of those that wants to make it seem a lot more complex than it is

I am not sure how Crain's career ends, but I am guessing his show has disappointed since getting bought out. He does not have a wide net of followers and he doesn't really carry a big fandom, even amongst the Auburn fans.

I am guessing his producer wants his takes more brash, and more colorful. Lastly, the LOA show right off the bat was pitted as Jboy versus Charlie5 as if they were some huge rivalry: Peyton Manning- Brady type of rivalry. And that is exactly what happened.
If Crain has a rivalry with some no-named e-persona then Crain is clearly not big-time.

JBoy and crew were brought into Shapiro’s organization to try to be against the anti-woke ESPN crowd. What Ben failed to realize is that’s why we hate ESPn talking heads because they want to bring politics or race into the conversation and we want to get away from that in sports. I don’t doubt that he gets his views up behind the paywall but it’s a dumb premise to begin with

He won because he was calm, Charlie 5 is a fan, has a real job, a golfer (dad bod golf podcast) at AU club.

Curt talked over everyone’s head by throwing out a lot of Jargon and just ranted. He got his feelings hurt because Charlie 5 called him on it. If that was a criteria, then no one could discuss sports.

So " dad bod golf podcast" (wtf) dude versus a former GA for some college teams and son of Auburn legend linebacker.

Crain was explaining the other guy didnt even know what a cover 2 was in the few minutes I was on. That's not "jargon." Thats football.

You are the weasel that defended a welch for there being no integrity online and you want me to listen to you. Stop

I heard plenty in the first five minutes to hear that portion.

And I am not arguing.

Crain's argument that he led with is we couldve done more to stop Bowers. And Crain said like ten times "THE WHOLE DEBATE IS ABOUT THE SCHEME." Do we really care about the person's opinion that doesnt know schemes if that is the debate?

If anything Charlie sounds like a typical fan with typical open ended statements "why do we keep running it up the middle" and Crain is probably right since he is the only one not using fan generalizations but he is full of himself.

I don't think Charlie tried to debate that he knows football more than Jake, he was trying to say that his specific point about coverage was bad. Jake went super Saiyan and destroyed Charlie which is more than fair when you infer that a guy isn't smart, but damn. lol None of us know more football xo's than tubbs, Malzhan, chizik, or even Harsin, but we've all voiced our displeasure with their decisions in certain situations.

I dont know. Some of the fan generalizations are too much.

I remember one of Charlie's points was we didnt have a quality enough safety that could chip and help defend Bowers but that didnt make sense. A safety does not need to be chipping.

I dont think it takes a certain talent level to chip. The purpose of chipping is to be a speed bump and possibly reroute, but rerouting isn't necessary.

I think the distinction here is it felt like while watching the game we were not doing enough so the argument here is intuitive. This isnt an example of Harsin saying "yeah we got hammered by Penn State but we are still better, and you cannot see that because you're just a fan. I see these guys everyday."

Charlie/ Student: “A QB sneak. This isn’t hard Dan”

Crain/Enos: “With gaps defense What a joke ”

One is wrong/ the other is probably right but looks worse.

Not much difference in either situation.

And I only say worse as in relation to today's society where there is an extreme democratiztion of the podcast and everyone including me feel like they deserve their input and their voice. In the old days of beatbammer and disgruntled Lanier people had to show their skills and their acumen to even get brought to the table.
