Very true meta. Its a progression curve, another year of ball does not mean everyone else stands still while one player improves.

With the new rookie pool, if you are looking at third or fourth round, you better take it now, sign a four year deal and hope you can hang out for resigning which is where the real money is. Staying another year and risking an injury should not be an option, and you are another year older, putting that elusive second contract further on the horizon.

If MF’n Neiko Thorpe can stay in the league this long Jamel Dean will be able to. Neiko Thorpe and Walter McFadden made them goofy white boys from Northwestern look like all stars in the Outback bowl.

Wow alot of you guys are severely underrating Jamel. He was awesome this year. Thanks to him we didn't really miss Carlton Davis all that much. He stepped up and played really good defense on number 1 receivers all year. The perfectly played pass at the end of the lsu game that he got unfairly flagged for will always stick out to me in my mind.

Another upright year in the books may have shown that his knee shouldn’t be considered an immediate concern and as much a red flag.

He had a second knee injury while at AU. His first injury being bad enough for OSU to not even clear him

No team is fully guaranteeing RD1 money to a CB with documented knee problems

His physical style is pretty much outlawed in the NFL. College is much more liberal than the NFL with regards to PI and hands on the receivers and he got tons of penalties in college.

I was wrong then. Still, he’s played two consecutive seasons since those injuries.

Yeah, I'm sure an NFL team really hate his aggressive style.

lol he was consistently lined up against opposing teams #1 receiver and I quickly counted 3 total PI penalties this year on ESPNs play-by-play (one being the bullshite one against LSU and one coming yesterday up 63-7)

Javarius Davis OTOH had 5 or 6

Good for him

He's been injury prone so i don't blame him a bit for chasing the money while he knows the opportunity is still there.

Teams don't screw around with guaranteed money for early RDs + injury history

Just look at Carl Lawson

What is the league minimum now?

450,000 or so?

So each year in the league is beyond good money for 22 to 28 year old.

He will get drafted for much less compared to what he could be paid if possibly went first round next year. He wasn’t even all that good. Constantly getting burnt. He needs a big signing bonus.

Oh My fricking God JUST LET HIM GO IN PEACE!! He’s had 2 knee surgeries, he’s lucky to get the chance. Why frick around in school and risk another major injury. Y’all are some selfish sacks

This is arse backwards.

He’d be a perfect Seahawk. They play a Cover 3 and use big corners. All he has to do is cover his side.

My opinion has changed to “go get that third round contract money, honey!!” If nobody else thinks he can get better then whatever.
