Member back during the last two football season when we all said "thank God for Bruce?" I do and I still belive that. Our basketball program is actually relevant for the first time in my life. Look at the top 15 all time rated basketball recruits and how many belong to Bruce?
The accolades are just too numerous to listen to the knee jerks. When Bruce stops bringing in McDonald's all Americans and has multiple losing seasons then maybe we can talk.

So do you not agree that our performance compared to the talent Bruce has brought in is bad in Post season under Bruce. Meaning SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament other than the one magical season?

Well let’s analyze:

Bruce took over in 2014 and considering his background and the fact he wasn’t coaching for a while and Auburn’s bottom dweller status, it was going to take a few year to see what Bruce could do.

1. Fast forward to the 2017-2018 season, we made the dance since 2003?

And then the final four the next year and wins SEC tourney. .

2.The following year the sec and ncaa tourney was cancelled due to Covid.

3. The next year we got hit with sanctions(shouldn’t haven’t to remind you about this).
4. The next year(2021-2022 season) we are back and have top recruits to land #1 ranking. Now I will admit this year was disapppinting considering talent level. But that is ONE year.
5. This year our talent level isn’t not near our past teams and we are going to the dance. So, your argument really goes for 1 year.

We should keep in mind the SEC Tourney shouldn’t be a basis for this argument as we know, this doesn’t mean you’ll get far in the tournament that matters more. Yeah it’s great tournament but let’s get real. It’s not a national championship.

No amount of coaching can make Wendell Green make a game winning shot.

No one in Auburns program has made a game winning shot since TJ Dunans in 2017. They are rare

Edit: actually my bad, Wendell Green made one last year

I argue that it is post season play and should be part of this discussion.

Its like saying the SEC Championship in football doesnt matter as long as you make the playoffs. To a lot of us, the SEC Championship still matters

I am not evaluation the program under Bruce. ITs spectacular overall. Just the post season play based on the teams that we took to them.

Post season play, SEC Tourney and NCAA Tourney have not been great

Some have used the analogy that we are the winningest program in the SEC over the past 6seasons. What post season trophies do we have to show for it?

Technically we won the SEC Championship last year. That is a bigger accomplishment than the tourney, IMO.

Only instance that really bugs me is last years postseason. 2018 I already cited losing Mclemore kinda blew that out the door. Yesterday we lost to an Arky team that is basically on par with us. Way more talented but less experienced

Like I stated earlier, it always matters more when you win. Human nature.

One is the SEC Championship and the other is the SEC Tournament champions. I’d take the former over the latter every time. We win the regular season and we’re pretty much locked in a top seed.

A regional championship trophy. Something that no other team has done since South Carolina in 2017.

I would compare it more to baseball bro based on how the tournament is set up vs football which is completely different. The baseball and basketball operates almost identically. Would you really care about winning the SEC Tourney that much vs getting to the CWS like we did? frick no.
