He makes 5.4 million and this week

He put his slowest defender on mark sears.

&

Changed his starting lineup with what followed to be the worst offense game of the year

The inconsistency is what kills me. Lights out and lights off.

ETA I think Bruce is above average with high energy teams but not a great coach.

Bruce is way above average and when he's gone it's probably going to get ugly again but even with Bruce it does seem like the program has a definite ceiling and it has been reached.

I understand your frustrations.

If you can detail…an offensive and defensive strategy that may have helped the last two games…I am all ears. You seem to complain, yet have nothing/anything to suggest schematically. Just saying.

To say Pearl is the best basketball coach Auburn has had in my lifetime or yours would be an understatement. Yes, it’s frustrating to see our offense struggle on the road sometimes. But the realistic goal for any SEC contender is to win all conference games at home and about half on the road. That puts you at 13-5/14-4 and maybe you win the SEC regular season. At worst, you’re well positioned for the Conference and NCAA Tournaments.

And let’s keep it real - all that really matters is what happens in March. A run to Phoenix and nobody will remember this game or care.

y'all realize we make it to the 2nd round almost automatically under Coach Pearl right?

I don't think Bruce is "way above average" - I think he's above average. Super happy with the bball program over the last several years but man there have been some stinkers and some early outs in the tournament. Maybe a Top 10 active coach but that seems a stretch to me. He's recruiting great players - they showed the thing for Ayden today who was 17th in the country and the Miss State guard was 100+ and he had better stats.

I think some people forget what Auburn basketball was before Bruce. With success though comes expectations and we seem to be stagnating some. Hopefully we'll get it together and I'll be eating my crow when we clinch a trip to Phoenix in a couple of months.

I agree and I hope you are right. frustrating to see a #8 Auburn team fall flat against an unraked Miss St. team.

I knew as soon as the game was over I knew you'd break your leg trying to make another one of your signature unhinged shite take posts.
You rush in here to to cry about how bad our football and basketball coaches are but you never feel the need to call yourself out for being a complete dumbass.

So that is cool with everyone? Lets just go to the tournament then lose out.

Because we are just happy to be in the tournament?

That is the logic you guys absolutely hated about football.

I know so many here adore Bruce and have him so high on a pedestal that he is basically untouchable but if he deserves criticism, then he deserves it... And the last two games, he deserves it

Its not like anyone is wating him fired.

Today was unacceptable. And it hurts my old man head to hear guys on this board say they were OK withg the Alabama loss because everyone picked them to win. That is BS. You are Auburn people and you should NEVER be OK with losing to the gumps when you are clearly a better team

At anything

Now on to Vandy next week.

Should be making more, only people complaining about the job Bruce does are fans that realized basketball exists when we made the final four.

1) you gotta make it TO the tournament first (something we were not doing every year previously) if someone had told you before Bruce that we were hiring a coach that'd get us to the 2nd round every year (minimum.) you'd scoffed at the idea.

2) did you think we were going undefeated in roundball?

Before that, most fans wanted to forget that we had a basketball team bro.

I will preface this by saying Bruce is the best coach, and his teams the best AU has put on the floor, in my 48 years in the planet and probably in AU basketball history, but I do find myself agreeing or wondering about the above. Is there a ceiling, and are we at it?

Is Auburn basketball like say South Carolina football where you are never going to consistently compete for the cream of the crop recruits, and have years where you are super competitive but really never built to be world beaters?

I just wonder with G-league and such if recruits like Jabari are going to be the exception and not the rule? I admit I don't follow basketball recruiting as much as I do football, but didn't we have two stud prospects from Cobb County (Lassiter, Mceachern, Sprayberry) commit a couple of years ago when they were sophomores or juniors? I thought they would be on campus this year. What happened to them?
