I've got that one ex Fla defensive coach that tried to fight Mason or Jo Le Dunn... we need an arse-kicker to whip some arse around here.

Stoops isn’t going to leave stable, reasonable expectations Kentucky to come to this circus in mid February
I think your best case scenario is finding a Sam Pittman type. Excellent recruiter and good personality guy to rebuild relationships (w/ players, boosters, HS coaches, admin, recruits, all the above)

If they can pull off Dave Aranda, I will forgive them. But it ain't happening.

Aranda is way too established to walk into this. Our next hire is almost certainly going to be someone who is:
1. Uninspiring (like a Steele type hire)
2. Upcoming
Or
3. Has baggage (like Freeze)

Our best hope is to get someone who is at least competent. I don't think any recognizable names would come here at this time, except for probably Hugh.

We need someone with SEC ties or someone with enough personality to break the ice.. That will dwindle down the number of candidates. It’s February so cannot expect a HR hire.
Just pick one and let’s ride.

Just some names we maybe swing for:
James Chaldwell
High Freeze
PJ Fleck (not southern but huge personality)
Jeff Traylor
Dave Clawson
Or we go the OC route and get someone like Grimes

That would be our best bet but he would crumble after about 4yrs and he may have a heart attack if he has to play Saban every year.

And what the hell is wrong with that?

The sad thing is with the NIL in place we have to have the money men to compete. They have the program by the balls. Harsin may or may not be a good coach, disciplinarian, etc.., but without the backers he is toast one way or another. Any hire has to have all the essential players rowing in the same boat. If the Harsin hire was a stick it into the face to the money, it was a bad move. That only works if you hire a Saban, and just maybe (Meyer)a couple more.

It will be a terrible hire.
He will have no media support.
He will be judged unfairly by the high school coaches in our area.
He will fail.
Then we will do it again with the same result.
We are the new Tennessee.

Lane Kiffin has as many 10 win seasons in 2 years at ole miss as Hugh Freeze did total and took over AFTER the program had already been gutted from Freezes recruiting violations.
Your memory is not very good.
Hugh Freeze inherited a 2-win Ole Miss team.
Lane Kiffin did not follow Hugh Freeze, he followed Matt Luke's tenure. Matt Luke literally signed Matt Corral, Jerrion Ealy (a 5-star), and basically all of Lane Kiffin's best players from last year's team. Lane Kiffin did not inherit slop, it was actually Luke who had to bear the brunt of the blowback of the Freeze situation, and he actually stocked the cupboard decently well for Kiffin to roll right in. I can assure you that Hugh Freeze didn't inherit a Heisman caliber QB when he took the Ole Miss job.
Hugh Freeze had Ole Miss recruiting in the Top 5 nationally. Lane Kiffin just had a 10-win season and his recruiting class ranked below Bryan Harsin's.
I have no allegiance to Freeze, but people who try to contort themselves into not seeing his capability are hilarious. He's been at three straight places where he's inherited basically nothing and has had all three rolling in short order. He has already had success in this conference, with a bottom-tier program to boot.

Meta you have sold me on freeze. I don’t know how much I’ll like him if we hire him, but the stats speak for themselves and he knows how to get things done. I hope if he gets his second chance with us he’ll take every advantage of it like Bruce has, and it will be a great thing for everyone involved. I guess we’ll see.

Hugh Freeze also got 27 of his wins vacated and Ole Miss put on probation.
He also let himself get busted by Houston freaking Nutt

A+ wordplay.
I’m not sure who else we can get if we don’t get him. I don’t see anyone really taking a shot with us given the way things are playing out with Harsin. I could be totally wrong though if the PTB/GOBN get aligned and sell well to someone.
