Do I call a 10 win season a wash? No, I call it a damn good season

Im a sucker for his posts. I have to admit it. We’ve got Randy in this thread taking the middle ground so someone has to pick up the slack

With a senior transfer QB. Remember when Ensminger was co-offensive coordinator here? Now he's the second coming. It has to do with personnel. He's the same clown he was here at Auburn. We fired him and he took a job at Smiths Station High School.

No, its NOT just personnel.

Orgeron hired a passing specialist to help with a upcoming SR QB and the offense, got better and more complex. It worked, as they are as good as I have ever seen LSU play offense.

Remember, LSU floundered for years too w avg QBs or athletes trying to play QB causing LSU to lose games just like Gus does with his inconsistent offenses.

p.s. THeir last 2 QBs have been transfers. So maybe it's not that easy to develop QBs from HS?

I will say if we didn't have such an inept offense (from pretty much every position at times), we could be undefeated right now.

Many things to blame that on.

Freshmen QB? This is Gus's problem. I'm jumping on the Gus can't coach a QB bandwagon.
Oline recruiting? Definitely, all Gus.
Passing playbook/scheme is shite? Definitely, all Gus.

I think Gus has ran his shelf life, unfortunately.

Our defense would have us in the playoffs if the offense could've produced anything in these two games.

Lost by 3 at LSU. THREE!!!! Could've won that game if the offense wasn't a gleaming pile of shite.

At Florida, another offensive shite show.

The two games that mattered, our offense looked like utter crap.

Who's to blame?

If "missing the Playoff" is considered failure, your expectations are entirely too high. There are 65 Power 5 teams. Less than 7% can make the Playoff any given year.

This is the bullcrap that I will resist on my hill until I die. Gus has a 49 million dollar deal for what if not expectations?

If he made $2mil less per year would you be happier about Auburn Football?

Expectations drive the contract. If Gus can’t handle them, don’t sign the contract.

Most would just say “let’s fire him and pay Stoops $7million/yr”

Yep. agree.

So 7% make the Playoff, and what is our current %?...ZERO

Failure is not always the end result.
Failure can be NOT putting your team in a position to make the playoffs near the end of the season

So can I assume you align your expectations on the size of the coach’s contract or do you want to clarify?

I legitimately want to know. It’s the economist in me.

We cite the contract as a source of our unhappiness but I suspect that we wouldn’t be any happier if he made any less.

I cannot clarify your stupidity.

Am I supposed to assume that those with higher contracts (49m+) have said contracts based on arbitrary decision making?

Gus would probably already be gone if he made 2 million less a year.

In terms of salary, Gus is in the top 9% of coaches, coming in at #6 overall. That kind of salary drives expectations. Look at Jimbo and Jim Harbaugh, though Jimbo does get some time.

So the contract has nothing to do with expectations, just ease of firing

Well no wonder we haven’t made the playoffs. We only have top 6 expectations.

Jimbo is a great example of a coach not meeting the expectations. But the economist in Jones is about to say something clever I’m sure.
