I can't figure out if you're just very good at trolling or that you really believe RA was a better qb. Either way, you're consistent....

I’m waiting for examples from someone that proves Throne is better. Ashford put up better numbers.

Stronger arm: Ashford
Accuracy: Both have accuracy issues
Better runner: Ashford
Being able to see the field? Lots of missed wide open WRs.
Turnovers? PT has 30+ INTs in 3 seasons.

I’m not saying Ashford is Michael Penix, but he’s better than PT. Ashford is moving on though, so it doesn’t matter. It’s time for an upgrade from both of them.

I really liked Ashford’s potential, and was especially optimistic that Freeze could develop him and turn him into a weapon. But that never really happened. And I feel like he was given plenty of opportunities this year.

On the same token, Thorne was underwhelming this year but I do see potential in him with decent WRs next year and another year in the system.

49% and 62% dont even compare. Thorne has two extra games worth of completions than Ashford did despite Thorne throwing less.

Even if this could be evaluated Ashford still cant hit the broadside of the barn.

And Ashford had 2 interceptions on 27 attempts last year. When Ashford finishes with more TDs than turnovers get back at me.

The stats doesn't have them at a big difference.

Nice cherry picking. So lets just stick to this year. Which shows that Ashford is slightly worse in INTs

Go game by game if you want to. If as you say Ashford is better than PT for running this offense, then wouldn't it behoove the coaching staff to play the better person? Oh, and if Ashford was such a good QB why didn't anyone use him at their thrower during last season's NFL day?

You may not like it but this staff seems to think we have many other problems than our QB. If not then we would have one by now. Who knows Hank the Tank may come on during spring. But next year it looks like PT will be the guy. Ashford wasn't that good in HS looking at his tape. He had a heck of a receiver which in HS makes anyone look good at QB.

Ashford should probably go back to BB as he will makes some money there unless he changes position.

Wrong

It would have. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. Someone paid NIL to get him here. If you don’t think that’s a factor in this day and age, you’re delusional. What we did see was Ashford leading scoring drives against LSU, etc. when PT couldn’t. Ashford’s gone either way, so I’m more worried about upgrading from both of them.

He had a hurt throwing shoulder and was not throwing at all. This has already been stated why he was not throwing at pro day.

Freeze went hard after Leonard. Notre Dame threw the bag at him. Freeze also missed on multiple QBs last portal cycle. He also has missed on other portal positions this cycle. Not getting someone yet does not equate to him not going after anyone.

Perry Thompson might disagree with this.

Wrong

Player GP Rating COMP ATT INT % YDS TD Long AVG/G
Thorne, Payton 12 134.25 149 239 9 62.34% 1671 15 53 139.25
Ashford, Robby 10 106.59 14 27 2 51.85% 145 2 39 14.5

2 INTs out of 27 attempts is worse than 9 INTs out of 239 attempts.

Those stats are what AU put out. Also PT's % is better than Ashfords. Sorry dude don't know if you are Ashford's relative or something but the stats just don't show that he is much better than PT. None of us have a stake in either one. We all would have gotten behind RA if he showed he was better. You can't compare 2022 stats between the two because they are just not the same offense etc.

So who is your next QB you are getting behind?

I never said he didn't go after QBs last year. Nice try in deflecting. You trying to talk about last year. I am talking about this years portal. However, you bring up a great point. Since they went after PT in the portal they knew that RA wasn't the answer. He hasn't improved enough this year to take over. So the staff has to fill gaps and they think they are ok with PT right now. We all are hoping they are correct.

It’s this simple.

If put Ashford at ten yard line to throw a 20 yard pass with no one in between. He might throw the bullet through wall, but standing still he’s reliable.

Now put a defender at the 15 or 20 and throw a pass on target. Over the defender and into the receiver’s hands ….just standing still. Then at a dead run…….

I bet on the football and grass.

He’s not a QB at this level…..no “touch”

I’m not sure why we entertain this stupid discussion everyday.

For anyone with a brain it’s not even close Thorne is a quality QB that is probably middle of the pack SEC level next season.

Ashford is not a P5 QB. He could go to a smaller school and possibly play well because of his speed. But the truth remains the same if he wants a future in football changing positions is a must. Some people are just to hard headed to take advice

Throne showed some nice touch on that pick 6. A very catchable ball.
