The missed 4th and 2 was on Nix, yes. shite like that can and does happen not just with Nix, but most other QBs too....but time and time again against worthy opponents, he's repeatedly put in a position where he's behind the 8 ball from the very first series, and every single snap becomes magnified x10, and that's on Gus.

There was a drive that is Gus to a T.

We had moved the ball with great play calling to uga's 45ish yard line. All the plays were normal offensive play calls with good rhythm.

I told my wife here comes a play action bomb that will put us behind the chains and this drive will stall out. We not only called the play action bomb, but Gus, Gus'd it up by throwing Mickey Mouse tricks into it with the quick snap that almost got past Bo. To Bo's credit it was a good throw, but not a great throw. He should have led AS another few yards. A person might wonder if the poor exchange on the trick snap added to that issue. Now instead of 2nd and 4 or something like that it was 2nd and 10. We then ran another silly trick snap play that would have been an awesome follow up call to a completed big pass and I assume it had been precalled...but even though we didn't complete the pass we ran it anyway and got stuffed because any DC watching us knows Gus is scared to death of 3rd and long and knows he would be running a play that would hopefully get 4 or 5 yards. Ya'll know the rest of the story on that drive. Gus out Gus'd himself.

I've said before it's like Gus has no finger on the pulse during any given series, as if he's the CPU calling plays in a video game.

Bo won't improve because Gus offense won't improve.

Bo is going to end up having close to the same stats this season as 2018 Stidham.

Edit: coaches do I have to recognize what qbs are capable of and design offense around it, Gus did that with Nick M but no run game is killing us

No run game is due to Gus’s inability to see he needed quality offensive lineman, again Gus’s fault.

Who is calling the plays this year? Nix throwing 50 times against UGA is hilarious.

What is it about Bo's passing ability that causes him to miss on some throws that anyone could make?
QB Mechanics?
Confidence?
Honestly, he is more accurate throwing to guys in coverage than he is throwing to guys who are wide open.

Well look at this critical 4th down throw. He got lazy with his footwork probably because he knew it was an easier throw. Trying to Patty Mahomes the throw. His mechanics isn’t as solid as we imagined before the season if we are honest with ourselves.

In other cases, where he actually does step into his throw, he just puts the ball in the wrong spot. Specifically on a jailbreak, inside WR screen, where he forced Williams to break momentum and jump to catch it instead of hitting him in stride.

His footwork has been all over the place all year.

Part of that is due to him freaking out the moment he sees a rush

Was on the road saturday so I was listening to AU Radio.

Stan called Nix out on bailing too early on almost every passing play. Said he even 'flushed himself into trouble' on more than one occasion.

Stan has been very critical of Bo recently. I'm telling yall, listen to our announcers during the game and not the TV guys. They are infinitely better.

Yeah, unfortunately, while i was at the game, I saw at least 2 pass plays where the OT had kept his man in check, but for some reason Bo was thinking the defender was crashing in too far, so he would circle to his right around him, worried about getting sacked. And ofc the play didn't go anywhere.

He needs to move a little more in the pocket, and bide some time to find an open WR, so hopefully he will see the tape and learn from it.

The ranking of all QBs according to a PFF writer:

quote:

96. BO NIX, AUBURN

The PFF grades have not been kind to Nix on a consistent basis as he's self-inflicted a lot of damage this year. His offensive line has been stout yet he's left the pocket and ran into pressure on his own accord to the tune of 20 total pressures including five sacks that we've credited to him. He struggles mightily under pressure in such instances, seeing the country's 116th-ranked passer rating when the defense gets home with pressure and sits just at 100th in passer rating from a clean pocket showing his inconsistency week in and week out. He does have stout athleticism but if the Tigers want to win those close games in the future, they'll have to get much better quarterback play.

It's frustrating, because he is very good when he looks comfortable in the pocket and steps into throws. The Athletic did a piece after the LSU game comparing his numbers in the pocket vs out of the pocket and it's a larger than normal difference. Yet, his natural inclination is to bail.

It's clear to me he is getting better though. But I still don't think he can ever be great in the offense.
