He has a losing record to his rivals, you want another coach that can’t beat UGA?

*Still young enough (he’s a man! He’s 55)
*Great recruiter, all things considered
*Has successfully run a P5 program who is on the outs because of SEC expansion
*innovative and different offense perhaps we can recruit to our advantage
*Red state guy in a Red state

Record vs opponents in conference:

Kansas: 8-1 (89%)
Texas Tech: 9-2 (82%)
Iowa State: 7-2 (78%)
TCU: 3-1 (75%)
Missouri: 3-1 (75%)
Kansas State: 6-3 (67%)
Colorado: 2-1 (67%)
Nebraska: 2-1 (67%)
West Virginia: 3-2 (60%)
Baylor: 7-5 (58%)
Texas A&M: 4-3 (57%)
Texas: 5-7 (42%)
OU: 2-9 (18%)

Not a good track record against his main rivals. Also WV catching up with him...so hard pass for me...can't deal with the mullet

ALHunter, if we hire either of Urban or Freeze we would deserve all the shite that can throwed at us.

I view them as high risk high reward. People might have said the same thing about BP when we hired him, Cam Newtown, and Nick Marshall (those guys were kids though which is obviously different)... but yea to some extent these guys have had multiple second chances and crap seems to keep finding them. The upside is their buyouts would be cheap if they flop because it's probably due to them doing something wrong.

ALHunter, where do you hunt in Alabama?

I have an Xbolt Hells Canyon and an SBE3 but haven’t hunted in a long time.

Everybody keeps saying Deion but he has other interest that don’t go along with being a SEC coach. He’s an owner in Barstool and has a contract with the NFL network we’re he has to be in New York each Sunday. Just don’t see an SEC team agreeing to let him have all these side hustles he has going.

Also don’t really know how well he can actually coach. Right now he just has better talent than the rest of the HBCU crowd but still gets beat by power 5. Not to mention he would leave for FSU as soon as it came open. He’s a good recruiter do to NIL but haven’t seen him develop players and still to early.

NIL Money Launderer here we come

If he doesn't drop it, imagine Deion spending an entire NFL Sunday show just talking up Auburn

This one I think is being overstated. He's apparently very angry at FSU at this point in time, all because they wouldn't interview him for the HC job when Norvell got it.

1. Once we have our coach it’s our responsibility to make our coaches feel loved. That goes with any coach including Bruce. So getting outbid on a coach we want to keep shouldn’t be an option after the countless amount of money we have thrown away.

Definitely helps when the coach is reciprocal to that love, and goes to things like Bo and/or Jimmy Rane's golf tournament, gladhands with the right people, etc.

Bruce also immediately went to work with the Boosters. Honestly, hiring him when he couldn't recruit might've been a blessing in disguise. Instead he got to spend time going on ESPN selling the program, meeting the right people, etc.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. We've clearly got the money to throw around as needed.

Also, to answer this question:

How does the name Mike Gundy strike you?

With fear, much like one of the turtles on his pond.

Let me get this straight. Sanders is mad at his alma mater, because they wouldn't interview him for the open HC position in 2019? If this is true, he truly is unhinged. In 2019, Sanders was the OC for a freaking high school team and had NEVER coached a down of football at any college.

OP, I'm with you on this one. Gundy is a player's coach, recruits decently for OSU, and is on par with Auburn's history of having a significant season or three every decade. He runs a stable and clean program.

A lot of these things Gus did, like losing to rivals. But Gundy may have a bit more upside at AU.

I remember when OSU people went after Gundy over his recruiting. What changed since then?

I'm not sure, but you cannot deny the nationally recognized skill players he's been able to secure over the years

No. No it isn't just my opinion.

It's 100% objective, verifiable fact that Urban Meyer is a better college football coach that Deion Sanders. Like, by a lot.

To say otherwise is coming from a place of major delusion and ignoring reality.
