I don't really have an issue with him coaching the NC game, and people that do need to lighten up... maybe it's b/c I no longer live in the state, or maybe it's b/c we won our own NC two years ago, but it's just not that big a deal to me... and if anything, it's a great recruiting tool to use.

It's over a month away.. We have recruits on the ropes.. It's a huge deal, rivalry aside.

That would put him getting to AU 3-4 weeks before NSD instead of 9 weeks before NSD.

You get one chance at a first impression...KS staying on at Bama would be the worst first impression he could provide.

Him coaching the bowl game doesn't preclude him from making phone calls and visits. Let's remember he has been recruiting a lot of the same players and already has a relationship with them.

Not only should he not coach the NC game, he should have it written in his contract that he has to bring CJ Moseley and a few other starters with him and they have to transfer immediately.

I'm already full of meh over the possibility of Smart being hired, so sabotaging bama's MNC chances would at least give me something to look forward to.

If Auburn fans are going to have to deal with the hiring of a bama assistant, then he needs to at least get to Auburn ASAP. He shouldn't coach in another Alabama game.

Ain't no way in hell Saban lets him coach the game if he thinks Smart isn't 100% committed to focus his all on the game. It's not a matter if Smart would do it, it's the fact that Saban never would allow him to.

He let McElwaine do it, didn't he?

Yes he did and also let him do his new HC duties from his office in Tuscaloosa IIRC.

One guy, from Chicago, with no ties to either universities, says this and everyone runs with it...

So Nick "Do you know how much I hate these motherfrickers" Saban is gonna allow his in-state rival's new head coach to game plan for his team's National Title Game and also recruit for Auburn from the comfy confines of Tuscaloosa?

I'll believe it when I see it.

I see no conflict of interest there.. Recruiting for AU on UA's payroll.. Would be a swell basis for future talks on integrity.

He is pretty close to Smart and has been mentoring him for some time. Also he is known as Nick " I love to win and why would I disrupt my team now" Saban...

Look if he is hired I myself would like to have him full time immediately, but I won't get too upset should he decide to finish the bowl game.

I don't see Saban allowing KS to call recruits from his office in turdville and try to convince them to come to Auburn.

Unless Kirby has been a double secret bagman all along, that we placed on Saban's staff to learn everything he can, know how to catch them cheating, start in motion the inevitable take down of "the machine", and inevitably impregnate NickSaban's daughter, only to leave before breakfast and never call her back....

Let's just say he knows where some of the bodies are buried in Tuscaloosa... Helped us when we hired Dye... The more I think about this hire, the more I like it.
