Just once, can Auburn hire a coach that at least one other P5 school is interested in? I mean, when we're in a bidding war with no one, shouldn't that be some kind of sign?

As much as I was anti-Freeze hire, you've got to give the man 4 solid years. We've got to let him cook.

Agree. I would have been for giving stupid Harsin more time if he hadn’t effed up the recruiting so bad.

If Hugh continues to get after it on the trail, we’ll just see what he can do the next few years. I’m not super confident though.

A good fundamentally sound coach can make drastic changes quickly. Look at what rhule has done at Nebraska. He was hired later than freeze and Nebraska looks much better than they did a year ago.

I agree, but the selection was Freeze.

There wasn't a single thing that was trending positively with Harsin. It was easy to see he was just there for the pay check and had no plans to improve AU football.

Freeze, at least, has us recruiting well. We've got to give him some time and AU football some stability.

Hes absolutely recruiting lights out but I'm not seeing any improvements on the development of his players.
The same mistakes are becoming more consistent. Why is the offensive line still struggling with run/pass blocking? Why is our qb not going thru progressions? It falls back on the coaching. They just need to do better with preparation. It's been this way with gus, harsin, and now freeze. Maybe it's just auburn.

Freeze did say that he's not completely pleased with the offensive line pre season and that showed yesterday. Also Cal has had their head coach since 2017 so that's a much longer time frame to build consistency than high freeze in a year and a half.

He needs to finish it this year and be here next year we need to let whatever happens this year happen so we have a program with consistency that can build. Freeze hasn't had time enough to do that for Auburn, I know I get impatient too and dislike there rotation of plays, selection of plays, rotation of WR players (where was Malcolm Simmons, no Sam Jackson V against his former team?), what weren't we running at all?, who's doesn't have the foresight to replace Coleman after he's injured with a designed play to Coleman obviously called up (use that communication device to audible that play)

Nebraska got extremely lucky that there just happened to be a legacy 5* QB in Raoila. Sure NIL played a factor but there is some luck there.

Nebraska spent their money on Raoila but had he not been there they could’ve easily spent the same NIL money on a great transfer QB.

The overall lesson is you should upgrade your QB, Freeze has punted away his first two years at AU by getting the wrong guy and not upgrading that position.

You confident Auburn could do the same? Cause I promise you you’re in the minority.

I will say the company line last year was that he spent so much time recruiting for the future he wasn’t worried as much with game planning and week to week roster management and development. What this year?

If you remember, it was one of my favorite statements.

There is nothing like hiring a coach for 3-4 mil and them not spending the time to actually . . .

coach

CHF- outside of recruiting- has not delivered yet anything satisfactory on the field. That was supposed to be the other “thing”
He would do besides recruit. What i mean by that is sure we may have a depleted roster- I buy that- but we have no identity. We are mediocre and forgettable. No one has emerged as an overachiever, a shot in the arm kind of player. That has to come from leadership. We are Not scrappy. We are Not imaginative. We showed some hints of being so against UGA and bama—-You know- the hallmarks of teams that are playing over their heads—-but not so against anyone else. We line up and play as if we had a roster than can go toe to toe- either we do or we don’t. I think we all agree we don’t- so where is the spark- ? it just isn’t there at this point.
