Respond with a pro or con (only 1 per poster, either pro or con) for Malzahn's tenure at Auburn. This poll will close tomorrow at 1am (approximately 24 hours from right now). Results will reveal a true favorability poll of our current HC.

Has built a very respectable program at Auburn, no program violations, etc.

Team is very good, unfortunately hasn’t gotten to the “elite” status yet.

Averaged 33.5 points per game since becoming the HC. Does not include 32 ppg and 41 ppg in 2009 and 2010.

To put that perspective, since 2000 we had one season over 30 ppg; we averaged 32 points in 2004.

Con - Habit of slow start, followed by peaking mid to late season, ending with an inevitable fall off at some crucial time.

I don’t really know how to explain the fall off, this season he seemed like relying on KJ too much, both in the sense of lacking effective game plan w/o him and season long over use. The slow start always seems to baffle me in the sense that spring and summer practices seem to yield no useful information to him in determining how best to utilize the strengths (and minimize the weaknesses) of his team on a year to year basis.

Edit: to be fair, with the rise of UGA and their physical playing style, it would be hard for any coach to keep his team healthy/recovered enough for the DSOR, IB and then DSOR rematch in SECC. I don’t know the answer for this other than to curse the Gods and bitch about Bama playing weak UT as cross divisional opponent haha.

Generally makes pretty good hires, particularly (ironically) on the Defensive side.

- teams are generally disciplined, both on and off the field.
- teams are physical... typically run the ball well, and stop the run.

Mildly pro.

Recruiting, NCAA compliance, off field issues all better than average.

Preseason preparation, in-game decision making, halftime adjustments all slightly below average.

Results on the field average to slightly above average.

We could do worse, but otherwise pretty typical in line with past program performance. Will be interesting to see how he fares in a post-Saban environment.
