I like a man that knows when to switch gears.

But, the thought that Lanning would leave Oregon to come to Auburn is pretty hopeful.

I’d give a testicle to have Lanning as Auburn’s coach. I mean, not one of mine. But somebody’s.

But zero chance he’ll ever leave Oregon. So you’re all safe.

Should have hired him when we hired Harsin.

OOOO Jville you need to go post that on the portal thread, that would be quite the backup QB we need to fill out the room.

Course the ideal spot for him would be LSU to back up for a year.

Kid is gonna be good for someone, he was a beast in high school.

The coaching staff had to know this was a serious possibility so do they have a plan?

he’s in his third season, undefeated, #1 seed in the CFP, in a big boy conference, with virtually unlimited financial support, why the hell would he even consider leaving

unfortunately Dilly is an AZ State alum and coaching there is his lifelong dream, so he’s almost certainly off the table as well

looks like Lashlee is next in line after all

I’m not even sure that any QB in this portal age will develop and be at the same school for 4 or 5 years anymore. I think that has changed irrevocably unfortunately.

It has taken the transfer rules and NIL less than 5 years to completely ruin college football.
It is nothing more than a semi-pro league now and the idea of a college education has become a joke for most of these guys.
College football is going to "NASCAR" itself in pursuit of TV dollars.

The end of that BYU game took a lot of the shine off for me. I mean, people learn from their mistakes, but that was downright comical. How could he think having his QB run backwards repeatedly was a good idea?

Anyway, I think you’re right about Lashlee.

I do think the competition jump from Arkansas high school football to the SEC was a lot for him, I do think he'll be a decent QB down the road.

But I doubt he'd have ever taken a meaningful snap at AU. Deuce is more talented at every facet of the game than WW and his ceiling is a lot higher.

Yes, Ashton Daniels and Cade Klubnik.

If we miss Cade, I expect us to wait til the spring window and try and find a depth guy again.

Surprised that Arkansas has not gone after him.

I want to see Lanning without a 47 year old QB. These super Senoir QBs are ending and he will need to develop one.

You think the "most Auburn thing ever" is us landing a coach from a team that is currently in the Playoffs?

Bold take.

And what did you expect Freeze to say about Thorne? “He’s dumb as a rock and pretty mid but he’s the best I could get”

Well that would be accurate. The point is that it looks increasingly like Freeze has no idea what the frick he’s doing. This season we could have very easily had another three wins if not for absolutely boneheaded game planning. Whoever was calling offensive plays this season should be banished from ever seeing a field again. It was that bad.

This is pretty much a myth. Kiffin and many dudes get their bills paid by transfers. The development is what works myth is just a preference.
