All I know about him is he's young, driven and runs another variety of fast-paced spread offense. The first two are encouraging. The latter concerns me.
I'll wait and see how we come out doing fundamental things. I feel ok about Durkin and the defense. Offensively, can we hold the line for more than 3 seconds? Can our receivers get separation? Can we catch and hang onto the ball? And how does this offense look against a defense (much of the SEC) with the defensive speed to cover it?
Dye teams were tough. They hit hard, blocked well and took care of the ball. With NIL and the portal, Dye would have never kept a team together the way he coached because half the team would have been in the portal every year.

Because your profie picture is literally a watch telling time I think you are yelling at me right now.
Or I am being studied without my consent.

Golesh in year one has to show a positive trajectory on offense and keep defense in the same ball park of where it was at last year. He brought in the QB so meeting the lowest benchmarks to help keep his bills paid should not be that hard.
He also needs to not screw up by shooting himself in the foot. This is most important.
I am expecting at least 5 losses this season. Lose with resolve and no quit and build towards next year. Just dont outright shoot yourself in the foot. Dont 4th and 31. Dont forget about recruiting. Dont be in the papers or going viral for saying stupid shite. Dont look like a lost cause.
lot of wisdom in that post jang

Losses where they're fighting and coming up short sure feel a lot less painful than losses with 15 missed opportunities and dumb penalties.

Pretty much what I posted. Its hard to compare these different time periods because they are just so different with so many different rules

Different time, different era. Dye was needed at his time.
I was eating breakfast when Grandfather walked in “Candidates, which do you think deserves the position?” “Seeing the fact you recruited Dooley to play for Auburn, I see a tendency to lean in that direction. But honestly, considering the time at Georgia, has he really challenged Alabama each and every year?” Dye has proven he can win at both Head Coaching stops. East Carolina and frankly Wyoming are simply High School football at a mediocre scale. He won at both stops. I believe he turns the SEC up side down. The beginning came from ending the Legion Field home Alabama ownership
His reply. “The contracts are in his hands.”

Pat Dye was a very good judge of the kind of player young athletes were going to grow into. He said he always wanted to meet the parents so he could know what the young men were going to grow into.

So you are Hanley Fundurburk's grandson?

My Grandfather was on Shug’s first Freshman team. Scholarship player. He blew out his knee on a punt return against Georgia. Shug took him to the side and told him “You made commitment to Auburn, Auburn a commitment to you.” You stay in school and help with the team.
When they returned and Shug was hired as the Head Football Coach, my Grandfather was called to become a recruiter and Coach. His first recruit was Bobby Freeman.
In the Preface of the book “Saturdays to Remember” released before the start of the season following the graduation of Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley, the story of Bobby Freeman and my Grandfather is told.
Tres Feaster is described in detail. Shug had me read the story while we talked about walking on.

I’m not sure about the most cut throat since Dye. Maybe since Tuberville. Tubs was a menace until the undefeated season. Probably the greatest Auburn team ever assembled. They were incredible in every facet of the game. Could run at will, could pass at will, stop the run and stop the pass, great kicking game. No USC would not have beaten the 04 Auburn team that bullshite transitive property crap was flushed down the drain when we crushed UGA. Because they beat us down pretty good the year before as well.
Gus was pretty cut throat as well but in a different manner. Either you could stop the run game or you couldn’t. If you couldn’t he’d put 50 on you.
Golesh I want to see if the silent bravado is real. Granted I think this will be his least talented team he coaches at AU. But still has the roster to win 7 games easily.

Fair and probably accurate.

A former player for Bear said....

Bear glared at him and said sit your arse down, Jimmy is doing his best, I need someone who can cover the fella.
