I have posted this a couple of times in threads but I thought I would start a topic to get opinions. We now have a coach that wants to kick arse on and off of the field. No more nice AU. I love it!

The summer commitment push has been nice, but lets maybe get a season under the belt before we go comparing him to an all-time Auburn coach.

Of course. I would say he needs a couple of years to establish himself. But his attitude is refreshing.
If I am proven to be wrong; I will admit it, but I don’t think there will be any taking the foot off the gas or Tubershell under Golesh.

By the time July ends we will be sure we can make into the playoff this year.

Of course. That should always be our expectation given our pay grade.
And if we do make it in 2026; it will prove how poorly we have been coached since 2013 (2017 being the exception).

He is comparing him to Bowden, Tuberville, Chizik, Malzahn, potato, and Freeze.

as far as i’m concerned, i’ve liked everything i’ve read about him this far
and he truly seems to be the kind of guy who genuinely connects with his players without any of the cringey bullshite we’ve seen from previous AU HCs
very early recruiting success is a good omen
that said, i want to see how his team is prepared week-to-week, how he handles in-game adjustments, how his offensive philosophy meshes with DJ’s defense, and ultimately how we finish games before i’ll feel confident in his future success

I agree with you. This is just my early bold prediction. I will have no problems with criticizing him when/if the time comes.

He seems like he really wants to succeed at this level. We got hosed by Freeze the sleaze and potato. I'm excited to see this years team play and its identity.

I like the cut of his jib for sure. I’ll wait to compare him to the best AU coach in my lifetime, but with all the adjustments he’s made, if Golesh can’t pull us out of the shitter then I will be seriously concerned as to whether we can ever be competitive again. I’m pulling for the guy.

Not giving an inch to any program to begin with. We will see, but I don’t think we have had that since Dye. I think Golesh is going to hold players accountable more since Dye. Again, we will see. If I am wrong; I will admit it. You all kept up now?

And how is that? If players do wrong he is going to kick them off the team? We have had that already. If they mess up on the field, he is going to sit them? Yea, I doubt that. He then would be held accountable unfortunately.
Look I really like him. I think he has a good attitude and I honestly think he will do well but that is just a gut feeling.
But what you are doing is exactly what has been done with every single coach who gets hired. He is a fierce guy and that can be good. Or it can be bad. WE will see. Times are not the same as they were when Coach Dye was here or even when Tubbs was here.
Like someone else said, lets see how things go before we crown him. I hope he does well and I hope a hard nosed guy can still succeed. I still think it is the best way to coach.
Not really caught up because I am not sure how any of this can be measured. But we will see how he does in a few years.

And I get that. Hell, I am somewhat on board with that. OR I certainly want to be. But History.
And like it or not, there is a big difference in coaching at a place like South Florida and Auburn. Where he honestly will not be in control. The powers to be always will be here. It has not changed for any coach. Not for a long time anyway.
As always, the first year is extremely important.

Golesh is getting a ton of hyperbole thrown around and I feel sorry for those fans already hot for him. Nevermind I actually dont because they suffer me with their nonsense all the time. Lot of our fans want Golesh to be Cignetti but I dont see the discipline in Golesh that Cignetti carries. I see the comparison to Pat Dye. Bryan Harsin was originally our next Pat Dye. Harsin was a straight shooter and cowboy to the media. But that was all talk.
Golesh in year one has to show a positive trajectory on offense and keep defense in the same ball park of where it was at last year. He brought in the QB so meeting the lowest benchmarks to help keep his bills paid should not be that hard.
He also needs to not screw up by shooting himself in the foot. This is most important.
I am expecting at least 5 losses this season. Lose with resolve and no quit and build towards next year. Just dont outright shoot yourself in the foot. Dont 4th and 31. Dont forget about recruiting. Dont be in the papers or going viral for saying stupid shite. Dont look like a lost cause.
Lot of college coaches that finally get momentum dont get it until the tail end of year 2. So fake it til you make it.
