There is something wrong with the Florida football program now. Maybe the price of selling their soul to Urban Meyer and some of those players that followed him there

After seeing Gainesville put out some God awful videos of Jon Sumrall I’d say yes we got the better fit.

Those videos make me glad Sumrall isn't our coach. Even if they were someone else's ideas, it shows poor judgment that he didn't shut it down

Sumrall just hired Buster Faulkner. So I guess the rumors about Faulkner when Sumrall was in talks with Auburn were true.

I believe we have the better hire also! Sumrall looked like Sunbelt Billy 2.0 today vs. Ole Miss

Tulane played Ole Miss back in Sept and lost 10-45. They're just outmatched.

While the difference is not night and day, I would say Golesh gets the solid victory over Sumrall in hiring a better staff.

Sumrall rounds out his staff, contrary to earlier statements, by hiring 5 Tulane buddies, including Joe Craddock. Well obviously ran bit dry.

Sumrall didn't seem to have a lot of fire in his belly, but then he was working two jobs. Golesh looks like he'll be dynamic.

Sumrall inherited a 11 win roster. Alex inherited a 1 win roster. One guy built form nothing, the other just didn't screw up the momentum. I'll take Golesh.

Thos is one reaso. I was never big on Sumerall anyways. Everyone told me he is a miracle worker because the whole team transferred upon his arrival.

Eh, almost Sumrall's entire roster from that 11 win team had left before he got there, he had to build up too. Not as much since Tulane was in better shape as a program than USF was, but don't pretend he walked into a full roster and just kept it going. If we had hired Sumrall and he had brought on Faulkner as OC and White as DC most of us would have been pretty pleased overall with our hire.

That being said, I'd much rather have Golesh. Sumrall is iffy to me simply because he's a defensive coach whose defenses didn't impress me.

Golesh on the other hand had his side of the ball humming at USF. Either way, we'll find out quick over the next few seasons who made the right hire, since Florida is in about the same spot all around as us.

I really feel Golesh is going to be an all or nothing hire. Either hks offense continues to work here and we become playoff contenders most years, or it will stall or wear our defense out and we continue to have losing seasons. I am feeling more optimistic than I have any hire before and being ob the bottom there is only one way to go. I for one believe he will lead us to being a consistently good team for the first time

I don’t know a lot about Tulane’s team but Sumrall lucked out with Mensah in 2024 and then chose TJ Finley to lead the team in 2025 before he was arrested. Then they magically landed Retzlaff last minute when he was kicked off the BYU team and walked on at Tulane. The most important position and he CHOSE TJ Finley and lucked into the other 2.
