Jesus.

Beyond that, the whole idea that there is some big pull that the Nix family has over Auburn/Gus is borderline absurd. Very obvious case of post-hoc rationalizing.

if this has already been covered I apologize

I understand Gatewood wanting to transfer out to go get playing time at another school. But what's the point of leaving at the end of October? Hasn't he already burned his eligibility for this year? Why not finish out the season and then transfer after?

Nix is the Auburn legacy and the epitome of Auburn Culture. The great story that got put on the Scott Van Pelt show. The little kid in the NC picture. A premature romanticized story. It’s easy to see the benefits in Gus choosing Nix over Gatewood.

The indictment on Gus is not plugging in Joey when Nix was struggling.

The Nix family had a pretty good QB play for us in the 90's.

Him being a part of a few cheerful memories is the extent of his influence

All the talk of TPTB being loyal to "legacy boy" reeks of an inferiority complex of those arguing it.

I totally disagree with those arguing Gus just wants to start a true frosh so he will have a scapegoat but at least there is some logic involved there.

I don’t buy that anybody else thinks Nix has been serviceable against quality competition.

At this point, it is done.

I hope he goes on to great success wherever he ends up.

Just like I hope Nix goes on to become a great qb.

Why stay though? When you are yanked off going in and a hurt RB gets your playing time and the starter could probably play no worse, there is little to no chance of playing in a meaningful game. Why go out there and kill yourself everyday for a coach that treats you like that? I hate it and I wish him well.

What's done is done. But the fact that we are now one high ankle sprain from putting in a guy who hasn't attempted a pass since 2012.

That is entirely Gustav's fault.

OK. Coaches fault he decided to transfer. Its a function of todays college football. Its not his fault. Is it Kirbys fault that he had 2 5* abs transfer? Sabans fault Hurts transferred?

You are just constantly looking for a reason to bash Malzahn.

I know your standard for serviceable. It’s to no surprise that you consider that conversation “good.”

That’s understood with the new transfer portal, but this is different. 4 games left, all home games, 2 against UGA and Bama, and he chooses to pack it in? Hell Gus has been good at keeping guys together for pointless bowl games. How the hell couldn't Gus keep him around? Gatewood wasn’t a trouble maker or selfish kid, popular locker room guy as well.

Gotta question Joey's character.

Get outta here with your trolling shite. You got your wish, he’s gone.

Kid stayed loyal to Gus for 5 years despite having 30+ offers. Supported Nix, stayed out of trouble.

And then quit in towards the end of the season when the team needed him and there's no advantage in doing so.

Spin this however you will, but leaving the team now is a shot at the coaches and the team. It has nothing to do with being able to transfer unless there is something we are missing......

The losses this yr are so painful considering that we arguably have the best D in the country. The way GM has handled/mishandled the qb position and JG is the final nail on the coffin this yr. The impotence of the offense is on gus and is a continuing theme. He needs to go

Like it or not leaving a team mid way through the season is quitting on them. It's not a great habitat. Hopefully, it will be a one off for Joey.
